Who’s My Mama? – The Crazy Beehive Farm Edition

Do you remember the children’s book Are You My Mother? Apparently our chicks have been reading it.

It all started when Reba decided motherhood wasn’t really her thing anymore. After hatching and raising her babies, she seems to have officially surrendered all parental rights and responsibilities.

Now the chicks are out looking for a new family.

First, we found one tucked up under Ready the Longhorn like she had adopted a cow as its mother. 🐮🐥

Meanwhile, Johnny Cash—the actual father—is doing his best to keep an eye on the youngsters. He’s supervising, teaching life lessons, and trying to maintain order while their mother acts like she’s never seen these kids before. 🐓😂

Duke has also stepped into the role of daycare supervisor, making his rounds and checking on everyone throughout the day. 🐕

At this point we’re not entirely sure who belongs to who anymore.

The chicks follow the cows.
The cows tolerate the chicks.
Johnny is a single dad.
Duke is the babysitter.
And Reba is somewhere enjoying her freedom and pretending she doesn’t recognize her own children.

Just another perfectly normal summer day at The Crazy Beehive Farm, where it truly takes a village to raise a chick. ❤️🐝

Just another calm, relaxing morning at The Crazy Beehive Farm… 😂

I was sitting on the porch finishing my coffee, not even fully dressed for the day yet, when my neighbor came over and casually informed me that Paintbrush had escaped and was headed down the road.

Cue the panic.

I threw on some clothes, grabbed my boots, wrangled the dogs into the house, ran to the barn for the big blue feed bucket, and took off yelling for Paintbrush and READY.

Now, if you’ve met my girls, you know they’re highly food motivated and know their names. The plan was simple: use the feed to lure Paintbrush back into the pasture.

The reality? Complete chaos.

While I was trying to figure out where Paintbrush got out and how to get her back through the gate, READY spotted the feed bucket and came charging toward me at full speed, horns swinging and excitement level set to 100. I was standing there yelling, “Whoa! Whoa! WHOA!” while throwing feed on the ground to distract her long enough to save some for the actual escapee.

Of course, Johnny Cash the rooster saw feed flying through the air and decided this operation was clearly for him and his ladies. So now I’m trying to catch a runaway longhorn, avoid getting bulldozed by READY, and fend off an overly confident rooster leading a full-scale chicken invasion.

Meanwhile, Paintbrush was doing her best little outlaw impression, pacing the fence line and making everyone work for it.

Thankfully, this amazing community showed up. One neighbor blocked the road, another stood watch, and everyone worked together to slowly guide Miss Paintbrush back toward the pasture. I called my husband three times, but his phone was on silent at work. Not that he could’ve done much from there anyway. 🤣

If it hadn’t been for our neighbors,Creekside Plants & Produce and Blakley Family Farms Meat, I honestly don’t know how I would’ve managed it by myself. I’m still pretty new to wrangling cows, and apparently Paintbrush has decided she’s going to make sure I get plenty of practice.

The good news: both girls are safe, sound, and temporarily secured in the chute while we fix the fence.

The bad news: Paintbrush has officially earned her reputation as the farm outlaw. 🤠🐮

Current farm status:
• Fence repair underway.
• Paintbrush remains under investigation.
• READY believes all food belongs to her.
• Johnny Cash is still convinced he was the victim in this situation.

Life on the farm is never boring. ❤️

🌱🐝 Farm Update from The Crazy Beehive Farm 🐝🌱

The garden and farm are finally starting to show off all their hard work!

🥬 First lettuce harvest ✔️
🥔 First potato harvest ✔️
🍅 First tomatoes are on the vine.
🫛 Peas are producing.
🧅 Onions are growing strong.
🥕 Carrots are coming along nicely.
🥒 Cucumbers are growing.
🌽 Corn is thriving.
🍉 Watermelons are spreading.
🎃 Pumpkins are growing.
🌿 Okra is coming along.
🌱 Herbs are thriving.
🌿 We even discovered a beautiful mullein plant that will be used for future teas and herbal products.

🐔 The chickens continue to keep us supplied with fresh eggs.
🦃 Our turkey babies are growing fast and turning into quite the little flock.
🐄 The cows are happy, healthy, and settling into farm life.

A few months ago this was all seeds, plans, and a dream. Now we’re harvesting potatoes and lettuce, watching tomatoes develop, and seeing all the animals grow right alongside the garden.

Every evening farm walk brings a new surprise, and honestly, that’s our favorite part.

Thank you for following along with our crazy little adventure. ❤️🐝

“It started with chickens”… and somehow now includes cows, turkeys, gardens, herbs, and more projects than we can count. 😂

🐝🌱🥔🍅🦃🐄

That last line feels very “Crazy Beehive Farm” to me because everybody who’s followed your page knows things tend to escalate around there. 😂🐝

Well… this escalated quickly. 🤦‍♀️🐝

I originally planned to make a few shirts for family and friends. Then people started asking if they could buy one too.

Fast forward a few months and I somehow ended up with a heat press, hat press, cutter, shirts, hats, koozies, and enough designs to fill a small country store. 😂

So before I start posting everything individually, I wanted to give my Facebook friends first dibs.

Current designs include:
🐝 Powered by Bees & Bad Decisions
🐔 It Started with Chickens & Escalated Quickly
🐓 Ain’t Country Without Being Chased by Johnny Cash
🐄 Sweet Tea & Side Eye
🤠 Mildly Organized Chaos
🚂 Train Station at The Crazy Beehive Farm
🐂 CBH Longhorns
🌻 The Crazy Beehive Farm Logo

Available on:
✔️ T-Shirts
✔️ Sweatshirts
✔️ Hats
✔️ Koozies

And there are more designs coming!

If you don’t see something you love, send me your idea. Funny farm sayings, family reunions, cruise shirts, girls’ trips, birthdays, business shirts, team events, and custom designs are all welcome.

Honestly, some of my favorite designs started as someone saying, “You know what would be funny…”

If you see a design you like, comment below or send me a message.

Thank you all for supporting our crazy little farm adventure. ❤️🐝🐓🐂

Who knew buying a few chickens would eventually lead to a greenhouse, a farm, longhorns, and now a full-blown apparel shop? 😂

Which design is your favorite?
