Long time no see - Homestead on Holly Lane is still here, I promise! 😂

We have been BUSY around here lately! You all know I also run Kikis Canines LLC and we are BOOMING over there, so between running my business, raising a toddler and keeping up with everything here on the homestead, that’s where most of my brain has been lately. The farm definitely hasn’t slowed down - I’ve just been terrible about posting it!

We also had a calf drop! A gorgeous little silver boy! 🐮Our bull may actually be coming up for sale soon as well so keep an eye out - Daddy is basically identical to this baby boy, so he’s definitely throwing some beautiful babies!

As for the chickens, we currently have ZERO chickens for sale and no hatching eggs available either. Why? Because we’re eating all the eggs. 😂😂 Between our house and actually putting all these farm fresh eggs to use, we’re going through them!

And Miss Lizzie is still looking for her perfect home! 🐴🐎
She’d make a great companion or could be used for some light riding. I’m considering ALL reasonable offers at this point because finding the right home for her is most important. Feel free to DM me with an offer if you’re interested in her!

Our first rooster arrival is here! 🐓🤍

This handsome boy is an Ermine Easter Egger who was a chick from my og flock - and I am SO proud of how he turned out! 😍 Isn’t he absolutely stunning?!

- Now he's officially settled into quarantine and, once cleared, will eventually be introduced to the free range bachelor flock! 🤍🐓

🐓 ROOSTER TAKE-IN TIME! 🐓

It’s that time again - does anyone have roosters/cockerels that need to come back?

As a breeder, I DO take back stock when I can! If you’ve hatched birds from me and ended up with boys or you can’t keep your birds for any reason, feel free to reach out and see if I currently have room.

And this isn’t only for birds from me!

If you have roosters OR hens (no chicks!) that need a place to go and you aren’t a client of ours, feel free to send me a DM with:

Today we actually have our first drop-off coming in! 🐓

I do want to be VERY clear about what rooster intake on a working homestead means, because I never want anyone dropping off a bird without understanding where they may end up.

⭐️ALL birds MUST be healthy at the time of drop-off. Please do not knowingly bring me a sick bird and risk exposing my established flocks. If a bird arrives showing signs of illness, it will be hard culled immediately for the safety of the rest of my birds. This is non-negotiable. ⭐️

For rooster drop-offs, I will have a crate out front with water ready for them. You can safely leave your bird there and I will move them into their designated quarantine area from there!

PLEASE make sure you arrive at our discussed drop-off time. I have K9s regularly out working and exercising on the property, so I specifically bring everyone inside for scheduled “rooster drop-offs.” Please do not show up early, late or unannounced with a bird!

Roosters I take in may stay here and live out their lives on our homestead, or they may head to a new home that I feel fits them best depending on breed, age, temperament, personality and what they would thrive in.

We are also a working homestead with a toddler, dogs, livestock and other animals. Human aggression - especially aggression toward my toddler - is something I take VERY seriously.

An aggressive rooster may continue living here and free ranging as long as he can do so safely. If he becomes a danger and attacks or creates a safety problem, he may become soup. 🐓🍲

That is the reality of taking in livestock on a homestead, and I want to be completely transparent about it BEFORE anyone chooses to bring a bird here.

I’m happy to give these guys a place to land when I have the room - whether that means becoming part of our flock, finding the right new home, or simply getting the chance to live a good little rooster life here on the farm! ❤️🐓

⭐️All remaining birds from my previous groups will now be available as SINGLES or GROUPS, so if you’ve been waiting for the chance to pick specific birds, now is the perfect time!

✨ I’ll also be adding a few new birds, including:
• 🖤 Black Ameraucana Cockerel
• 🤍 Possible White Ameraucana Cockerel
• One of my proven Ameraucana breeders - most likely Zero, my Head White Ameraucana Rooster (still making my final decision).

🇺🇸❤️ Happy 4th of July from all of us at Homestead on Holly Lane! ❤️🇺🇸

Today we’re taking a little break to enjoy time with our family, our animals, and all the simple blessings that make our little homestead so special.

If you’ve sent us a message about birds, eggs, animals, or anything else, thank you so much! We will be answering all messages tomorrow as we spend today unplugged and making memories with our loved ones.

🌿 We’re NOT Going Anywhere! ♥️

I’ve gotten quite a few messages after announcing my flock reduction/dispersal, so I wanted to clear something up! 😊

Homestead on Holly Lane is NOT shutting down! I’m simply thinning down my flocks and animals to a more manageable size! ♥️

I will still have my Ermine Ameraucana & Easter Egger chicks, as well as hatching eggs available -just at a smaller rate than before. 🐣🪺

This allows me to continue focusing on my birds while keeping the homestead enjoyable for our family.

Thank you all for the incredible support you’ve shown my little homestead. It truly means more than you know.
