Winnie the Pooh said, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Having the opportunity to spend over 10 years with Kevin has been beyond rewarding for Tammy and I, but being loved by him was the ultimate honor. We loved him every day of his life and will now miss him the rest of ours. This morning, in the shade of a canopy on the lawn he played on his entire life, we had a picnic with his Aunt Heidi and treats including vanilla ice cream, and Kevin MichaelJackson crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

To everyone that offered him a smile, patted his pointy head, shared the string cheese from your lunch, or simply liked him for any number of reasons, thank you. To all those that came to know Kevin through his therapy work, please understand that he truly enjoyed meeting people and showing how awesome Great Danes are. You helped give Kevin a most wonderful life.

What a blessing for us to have been his people! I’m really going to miss that boy.

Happy birthday to me! I’m 10 today!

Even though I’m retired, I still get plenty of milkbone treats. They’re my favorite although lamb lungs are pretty good too. I had to hurry up and eat the piece I dropped before that crumbsnatcher Presley got it. I hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day!

Dad wasn’t giving me enough attention today so I got right in his grill and expressed my displeasure. This lead to us going for a walk on a beautiful, sunny December day. It was practically hot outside!

Kevin would like to announce his retirement from active work as a Certified Therapy Dog. Due to a host of factors, he will not be seeking recertification and instead pursuing a life of leisure. From time to time Big Kev may make a special appearance as he is still a sweet and outgoing boy who truly LOVES meeting people but we will no longer be seeking opportunities for therapy work. Kevin trails only Santa Claus in the number of smiles he has brought to the faces of people in the southern Wisconsin area and has become a local legend of sorts. Our family is grateful for having had the opportunity to share this wonderful dog with so many of you over the years, and Kevin specifically has relished your love, affection, pets, compliments, string cheese, and other treats. We would like to thank Scott & Tina Lindner for the excellent training and helping us raise this majestic Great Dane, as well as the Southern WI Canine Therapy Dog Association. If you are an individual or group interested in the services of a therapy dog, please contact them through their page.

This isn’t goodbye, simply a “see you later,” and probably at the Tastee Creme over a vanilla ice cream cone. On behalf of Kevin, his sister Presley (who is also retiring) and our entire family, thank you for the love and so many wonderful memories!

Dad took me to the dang vet this morning and I weighed 145.7 lbs. Two vampires came into our room and stole my blood. Then the doctor lady stabbed me in each butt cheek and gave me an oral vaccine that tasted like 💩🤮. Then the doctor lady poked this weird rock thing in my ear to check for bad stuff. I panted and slobbered all over everything but all the people were SUPER NICE and treated me like I was a rock star, plus my heart worm test was negative. Now with any luck I won’t have to back to that place for a whole year!

Presley & I were able to visit a couple of kids at Gio’s Garden today. ”X” and “I” were very cute and the staff there is always so nice and appreciative! Then mom & dad stopped at Costco, which was significantly less fun because we had to stay in the van with mom, but at least we scored some bully sticks!

Because yesterday’s post was so popular, here are a few more “paintings” my dad did of my sister Presley and me. We will try to get some good photos of us working on our next therapy dog visit.

We haven’t been out doing too many therapy visits with the crummy spring weather so dad turned a couple of my photos into paintings. I think I look particularly handsome! My sister Presley and I will be going to Gio’s Garden to see the kids this next week, it’s always a fun time!
