My name is Lisa Kelly and I grew up catering with my mom in Manitoba, Canada. My love of baking and cake decorating really took off when I was a teenager and has only grown since! I now have a custom dessert baking side business out of my home in Southside, Oroville, California where I am also on pastoral staff at The Father's House Church.

STAY GROOVY 🌼 🌸 🌻 cake for Vicki Orsillo's suprise birthday party over the weekend
I was told she likes carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, coconut, and pistachios. So I did some brainstorming and this is what came out of it:
Carrot cake
Vanilla cake soak
Chilled cheesecake filling
Coconut pistachio filling (like the kind you'd make for German chocolate cake, but with pistachios instead of pecans)
Vanilla buttercream

And the 70s theme sounded fun to me because Vicki loves her retro music!

I received the inspiration picture for this request plus "she likes blue and bows" (the birthday girl) and this is the end result!
The flavors are straightforward: Vanilla and chocolate! They're classics for a reason.

I personally loved decorating this one, even though it was late into the night, because it's my favorite style for one thing, but also because it reminds me of my favorite Disney princess, Cinderella.
3 year old me would've LOVED this cake! I wish someone could've told me then that I'd be able to make birthday cakes like this in the future.

So fun!
My sister's wedding cake might always be my favorite, but this one is a close second ❤️

The "moss" is cake crumbs that I made in two different colors to create some variation.

For this one, I just got to play and draw and decorate 😀 I went with Cherry Garcia inspired controlled chaos
Inside:
Cherry chocolate cake
Almond cake soak
Chocolate buttercream
Cherry pie filling

I kept going with the ice cream theme on the outside, with waffle cone pieces and mini cones and chocolate dipped waffle bowl, cherries, peanuts, chocolate chips, and sprinkles.

These 3 cakes were picked up yesterday morning! All 3 had really fun elements for me: fun colors, "painting" with buttercream, making little kites for the first time, pineapples - lots of fun decorating!
