I screwed up the last kalua pig video I made. I forgot to wrap in banana leaves! It’s crazy how one single ingredient can totally change the characteristics of a dish. I truly believe the banana leaves make the kalua pig otherwise it’s just pulled pork.

The banana leaves add such a complexity of flavors and aroma to the meat that magically transforms it from any other pulled pork recipe and makes it Hawaiian Kalua Pig!

Man how I miss Hawai`i my home! Especially during the fall and winter seasons here in Washington State where the weather turns cold rainy and gloomy.

I miss the warmth of the sun the sounds of the ocean and especially the meals that we would eat with such gorgeous amazing views! There is no place like home!

How I miss you my Hawai`i
