🌿🍯 Good and tasty things are definitely happening in the kitchen!

Today’s Farm Kitchen Adventures:

✨ Fig Leaf Jelly with vanilla, orange zest, and lemon thyme — a unique blend with delicate coconut and citrus notes.

🌹 Rose petals are steeping for Rose Jam, capturing the fragrance of summer one petal at a time.

🍀 Clover Jelly is bubbling away, turning humble blossoms into a sweet country treat.

There’s something magical about transforming flowers, herbs, and leaves from the garden into jars filled with flavor. Every batch tells a story of the season and preserves a little bit of summer for the colder days ahead.

Strawberries aren’t shelf stable, and that’s the challenge of fresh local produce!

I had so many people wanting fresh-picked strawberries, but only a few actually showed up. The rest either didn’t call or wanted to reschedule. 🤦‍♀️

I picked these berries on Monday, and here we are on Thursday. Fresh strawberries wait for no one! 🍓

Looks like tomorrow’s project will be turning them into homemade Champagne Strawberry Jam. Nothing goes to waste here at Grupido Country Living Farm. From garden to jar, we’ll make sure every berry is put to good use!

Sometimes farming means making the best of unexpected situations. Fresh-picked strawberries may have a short shelf life, but delicious jam can be enjoyed all year long. 🍓✨

Nothing beats warm, homemade strawberry rhubarb jam spread over fresh bread. The sweet strawberries and tart rhubarb are perfectly balanced, while the hint of lemon, rose cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg adds just enough warmth to make every bite taste like summer and comfort food rolled into one.

Bi-Weekly and Monthly CSA members, your next pickup is Wednesday, June 17th, from 11:00 AM until dusk.

If you have any empty CSA boxes from previous pickups, please bring them back ahead of time or with you for pick up. Box returns help us keep costs down and allow us to reuse materials whenever possible.

🌱 Just a little walk through the back garden to see how the second planting is coming along!

Under the broccoli, the spinach, onions, and garlic are doing great. The cabbage bed has lettuce growing underneath, with onions and garlic planted around the edges to make the most of every inch of space.

The second planting of beets has finally popped above the soil surface, and now it’s time for my special homemade garden grow mix made from ingredients right out of the kitchen!

The sugar snap peas are already on their fourth planting this season, and the rest of the peas are growing in the front garden. Succession planting is one of the secrets to keeping fresh food coming all season long.

There is so much more growing around the farm, but that will have to wait for another day! 🌿🥬🧄🫛

Life is busy, but watching seeds turn into food never gets old. ❤️ 🌱🚜

🐢🌱 Apparently my garden fence project turned into a wildlife documentary today! 😂

I was fixing the fence by the peach trees when I spotted this little turtle in the grass. I walked over, said “Hello” (because yes, I talk to turtles 🤣), and then went back to work.

About 100 feet later, while happily singing and working away, I turned around to grab more wire and nearly stepped on the same turtle! The little guy had followed me across the yard. 🐢❤️

As if that wasn’t enough excitement, I did a quick spin to avoid the turtle and almost stepped on a garter snake. Then I spotted a big snapping turtle crossing the yard, a painted turtle, four baby bunnies tucked into their nest, a salamander, and the biggest bullfrog I’ve ever seen.

Some people have a backyard. I apparently have my own version of Animal Planet. 😂🌿🐇🐍🐸🐢
