Most people think paint is just for looks. 🐔🎨

I paint my chicken coops because it helps protect the wood from moisture, makes it easier to clean, and can even help discourage bugs from settling into cracks and crevices.

A little paint now can add years to the life of a coop.

Do you paint your coops and barns, or leave the wood natural?

I was actually upset about this, but it can happen. This was only 48 hours of incubation under her broody rear end.

I used to buy all the extras because I thought that’s what chicken keepers were supposed to do.

The longer I’ve raised chickens, the more I’ve realized that a lot of the best things for a flock are simple, inexpensive, and sometimes already growing in your backyard.
