There’s something deeply ironic about waking up on a Saturday morning and seeing endless opinions about what’s “best for veterans” coming from people and organizations with no firsthand experience serving. Advocacy matters. Support matters. But somewhere along the line, too many conversations about veterans started happening without veterans actually being part of them.

If you truly want to understand the needs, struggles, and priorities of those who served, maybe start by listening to them instead of speaking for them. Revolutionary concept, apparently. Humanity does love appointing unofficial spokespersons for groups they’ve never belonged to.

Look at all this raspberry leaves! I need to get out and harvest some. It’s too late today. Did you know you can harvest up to a third of the leaves without hurting production? Best to harvest after the morning dew has cleared, before it gets hot. You can dry them out in the sun and save them in a glass jar. You can make tea out of them, or smoke them. Bet you didn’t know that. They can provide a lot of the same affects of THC.

Thinking about making some more of these flags and selling them. I originally made one for myself for my office wall, and there seemed to be an interest in them from my friends and family. They are roughly 19”x32”. I think starting price would be around $150, depending on wood species and customization. Any interest still?
