Farming has a way of reminding you that life doesn’t always pause 🌱

Today that meant planting seeds and bulbs on the mudroom floor, holding the little one whose sick with RSV. It’s been a tough week with both the girls being sick. Not how we planned the season to start, but sometimes you adjust and meet the moment you’re in.

The seasons keep moving, and so do we — slowly, imperfectly, and with a lot of grace for ourselves on days like this. Even small steps forward still count.

This is part of the rhythm too.

Snow fell this afternoon, and by sunset the fields were quiet again ❄️

Just a light blanket — enough to slow everything down and remind us that winter still has a say around here. The land resting, plans taking shape, and a little pause before the work of spring begins.

Moments like this don’t last long, but they’re part of the rhythm of farming. Snow today… blueberries coming before we know it 🫐

Behind the scenes of blueberry expansion 🫐

Today looked a lot like flags, measuring, and careful planning — laying out the grid for our next blueberry planting. Every flag marks where a future bush will grow, year after year.

And yes, that’s Dean out there doing the flagging, putting his MineCraft skills to practical use. Pr***en labor secured through strategic bribery and promises of food.

This is what expansion really looks like on a family farm — slow, thoughtful, hands-on work that sets the foundation long before the first berry ever shows up.

One step closer to more blueberries, grown with intention 🌱

We like to let nature do some of the work around here 🐞🌱

In our indoor growing space, we’re releasing ladybugs to help control aphids naturally. It’s one of the ways we protect our plants without relying on harsh sprays — working with beneficial insects instead of against them.

Bonus: they also happen to be Lucius’ favorite bug. Watching him get excited about something that’s helping our plants grow makes this part of farming even sweeter.

Organic farming isn’t about shortcuts. It’s about balance, patience, and choosing practices that support healthy plants from the inside out. Sometimes that looks like soil health… and sometimes it looks like a handful of ladybugs doing their thing.

All part of growing food we feel good about sharing with our family — and yours.

Morning oats, tiny spoon, happy heart 🫐
Catherine has been loving overnight blueberry oats lately, and it’s one of those simple moments that reminds me why we farm the way we do.

Good food doesn’t have to be complicated — just honest ingredients, grown with care, and shared around the table. As we get closer to blueberry season, these little routines start to feel extra special.

Our berries will be back before we know it 💙
Follow along as we head into the season and get ready for fresh blueberries straight from our farm.
