Never before seen behind the scenes footage of us trying to do a puppy photo shoot.

We introduced the pups to chicken feet today. Blush, our last female available for reservation, was a big fan!

Rough coat vs short coat:

"Sissy" (left) is a rough coat Anatolian like her father, while "Izzy" (right) is a traditional short coat. As you can see, while a little floofier, our rough coat Anatolian's summer coat is not very different from her sister's short coat. Both have about the same tolerance for heat and cold. The only downside to a rough coat is that they do sometimes need de-matting around the ears and we have to pay more attention during cocklebur season because they loooove the cocklebur patches. It's super cute though!

Wait, they're ALL registered White Dexters?

Yep! Even the little red one will be WDCR registered (technically as "White Dexter breeding stock"). As long as one parent is white-colored and a WDCR registered White Dexter, and the other parent is either WDCR or ADCA registered, whether solid or white, all offspring heifers can be WDCR registered. Bull calves must be white to be WDCR registered, while solid colored ones cannot be registered with either registry (they get steered on our farm).

Solid colored calves with a white parent, whether heifers or bulls, cannot be registered as a traditional ADCA Dexter.

"Bear Mountain Ginger Patch", aka "Ginger" may be available later this fall, after weaning. We haven't yet decided if she will be sold. She is obligate A2A2 and homozygous polled.

Homozygous vs heterozygous white: "Bear Mountain Vanilla Bean", aka "Beans" (right), is homozygous white, while "Bear Mountain Sassafras", aka "Sassy" (left), is heterozygous white. What do you think, do you prefer the painted splotches look or the pure white look? I love both of them!

Sassy will be available later this fall, after weaning. She is black tipped and carries red, A2A2, and will be horned. We have not dehorned her as I know some owners love horned Dexters.

We just pulled tail hairs from Beans yesterday, so while we know she is black-tipped homozygous white and A2A2, we don't know for sure if she carries red (pretty sure she does by the ear color), and we don't know if she hetero- or homozygous polled. We're also not sure yet if we'll be selling her.

Nutmeg with her older brother, Valentino. These red-tipped White Dexter cuties are carbon copies, which is funny because their mom is a solid black Dexter cow.

Nutmeg will be available later this fall, after weaning. She is heterozygous polled. She can't be registered because her mom is part Jersey, but that means you can get the adorable White Dexter look for unregistered prices, plus bonus higher milk production due to those Jersey genetics.

Friday photodump! The pups are almost 4 weeks old and are beginning to eat solids, drinking water, and roughhousing. They still seem so small, but it won't be long before they're ready to start going on field trips around the farm!

Claret, Blush, Jade, and Alabaster are still available. If you were waiting to find out coat style before reserving a pup, I'm pretty sure all four will be rough coats.
