🚨 Heads Up, Pinellas County!
Your tap water might taste or smell a little different starting soon!
🚰 From September 21 through October 10, Pinellas County Utilities will be conducting its routine semi-annual water system maintenance.
During this time, they will temporarily change the water treatment process from chloramine to chlorine disinfection.
✅ The water is completely safe to drink and will continue to meet all federal and state standards for safe drinking water. You will not experience any disruptions to your water pressure or service.
👃What to expect: You might notice a slight chlorine smell or taste over the next few weeks. This is normal and means the maintenance is working!
💡 Pro Tips to reduce the taste/smell:• Run your tap for a few minutes before use.• Fill a pitcher of water and let it sit (uncovered in the fridge) for a few hours to allow the chlorine to dissipate.• Use a carbon water filter on your faucet or in a pitcher.
🐠 Fish Owners & Dialysis Patients: Please take your usual precautions. Dialysis patients should contact their care provider if they have any questions. Fish and aquarium owners should ensure their water conditioning systems are set up to properly remove both chlorine and chloramines.
