Some beautiful fresh white sandwich bread, if I do say so myself. ❤️

Learning to make bread has become one of my favorite things, but it didn’t start because I wanted to sell bread. It started because I wanted something better for my family.

A few years ago, I picked up a loaf of store-bought bread and actually read the ingredient list. Around that same time, we were doing a Scout project where we left different foods out to see what would happen. One of those items was a slice of store-bought bread.

A month later… it looked almost exactly the same.

That really made me stop and think. If mold and even pests weren’t interested in it, what exactly was I feeding my family? It wasn’t scientific proof of anything, but it was enough to make me start asking questions and looking for healthier options.

Three years later, I’ve had the privilege of learning how to make bread from simple, familiar ingredients. It’s been a journey full of trial and error, flour-covered countertops, and lots of happy taste testers around our table.

There’s something deeply satisfying about slicing into a warm loaf that I made with my own hands, knowing exactly what’s in it. Every loaf reminds me why I started.

Sometimes the best journeys begin with one simple question: “Can I do better for my family?”

I’m so grateful this one did. ❤️
