There's a community club meeting tomorrow night at the Palmer Hall, 5:30pm.
We would also like to start planning for the Sesquicentennial celebration by putting together a planning committee. If you would like to volunteer and be part of the planning, please join us and bring your ideas!!!
If you're unable to make it, no worries. There will be a lot of these meeting in the coming year.

The difference FOR THE Medical Professional to EMT class is the cost is 200 dollars you dont test and 8 ride along hrs . We do offer financial assistance. It may seem longer but requirements are 40 hrs. You can go between both classes as long as you attend all subject matters. You must attend in person day. Good afternoon,

Just a announcement that we will be soon implementing an ordinance enforcing the 4 wheelers, derby cars, and any other vehicle that are not insured or legal to be on the road ways. I have personally seen this and heard too many complaints of children on 4 wheelers and lawn mowers up and down our village streets as well as adults too. As a village are concerned with the safety of our town. We do not want to see or hear about any accidents due to this. Also, a noise ordinance will be going into effect and will also be enforced. When all this is officially finalized we will notify the community. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via message or by phone at (217) 823-0266.

The Easter Bunny is hopping around and told me that he got McDonalds in Taylorville to provide Christian County with “free Happy Meals” also Happy Baked and TnD is providing cookies! There may be some goodies from Taco Bell and Wendy’s as well!

Dewitt County - nothing like good ole Dairy Queen cones, some goodies from Hardee’s and McDonalds not to mention Monical’s and Clinton Family Restaurant surprises are in store!

Keep in MIND - we have a limit. Once apps are posted, they are 1st come, 1st serve! App is not complete without PAYMENT!

Each child will receive 9-12 stuffed hidden eggs, a basket full of candy, some silly string, goo, and bubbles plus age appropriate medium toy, a chocolate bunny and some local gift certificates!

The kiddos will wake up on Easter morning to find the eggs hidden outside and their surprises!

A good deed for Christmas

(PALMER) — On a visit to her grandmother’s grave at the old Harpers Ferry cemetery in Palmer, Jennifer Gordon noticed something. Though the cemetery is old, with headstones dating back to the 1700’s, most headstones were bare.

“I think it’s sad that they don’t have anyone or any family left to visit or pay their respects to them,” Jennifer shared. So, she decided to do something about it.

With her mother Janie Hughes, daughter Sophia Gordon, and husband Chris Gordon, Jennifer made Christmas decorations for the headstones. They are pictured putting out the decorations on Monday, December 13, 2021.

Happy September everyone! With this being said, in 30 days we will have our applications available on-line to ask for 2021 Christmas Assistance for Dewitt and Christian County!

Keep in mind the applications and approval process will be changing! Just because you received assistance in the past “does not” guarantee you will receive help this year!

Applications will NOT be accepted without complete application and supporting documentation being submitted to Linda by Submission DATE! We will NOT accept applications after submission date! We understand we DO NOT Advertise and this is a “word of mouth passing program”; however, we need the necessary documents to try to help YOU!

No exceptions will be made this year for late applications or NO documents being submitted with application.

We have too many families in need and it is unfair to the ones who provide their information in a timely manner based on our required dates!

Also, if you have received 3 years or more of assistance with our program, unfortunately we can not guarantee we can assist you.

Please share with anyone you may think that may be in need of assistance this holiday season in Dewitt or Christian County!
