Listen, at least we have alternatives!
Hear me out 🙃 Many fertilizers that you can buy are made from urea which is a compound that naturally occurs in urine. Now, I know this may not be for everyone. But it DOES work.
When we moved to first homesteading property in 2021 & needed to fill some of our container garden beds, it became quickly obvious that the compost we bought was low in nitrogen. The plants were turning yellow super fast after planting, & everything was dying. I saw a David the Good video on using diluted urine as a liquid fertilizer, and I was desperate to fix the problem without spending a lot of money on garden amendments. Almost immediately I saw a difference in the health of my plants, so years later, I still use it!
1. It has to be diluted to not burn the plants. I use 24-32 oz urine & fill the rest of a 2 gallon watering can with water, and I've never had an issue.
2. Use this on the base of plants or on the leaves of plants that aren't fruiting yet. You don't really want to get any type of fetilizer on your actual veggies, and this is no different.
3. Pease don't come for me in the comments. 😅
