You won’t find these apples just anywhere! We are lucky to work with some local farmers so we can bring in some of the more unique apples that grow in California, such as the organic Pink Pearl (yep, it’s pink inside) and the organic, heirloom Golden Supreme — like a crunchier, sweeter Golden Delicious — it’s an excellent apple!

Some of these apple varieties are only available for a couple of weeks once they’re harvested, so if these pique your interest, hurry in to one of our stores!

This could be the last weekend of the season that we get this local heirloom peach pie! 🥧 🍑

We have a limited number of pies, just baked and delivered by Woodside Bakery & Cafe. We take them the peaches — local, heirloom Cling peaches — and they turn them into pies, using the peels in the syrup mixture for the filling to give the pies extra flavor and texture without extra added sugar.

You’ll only find this pie at Sigona’s, so hurry in! When they’re gone, they’re gone.

We’ve known of Andy’s plans for a while, but seeing it in writing is bittersweet.

Andy is a wizard at farming, known for his unique fruits, outstanding quality and maintaining the long-standing presence of Mariani-grown produce in the Santa Clara Valley. We’ve partnered with Andy for over 45 years, ever since my dad and uncles operated their roadside fruit stands in Morgan Hill, and customers still call us months ahead to reserve a box of Andy’s heirloom Blenheim apricots. 🌳

It’s been a pleasure and an honor for me to learn from the best. I admire how Andy is a steadfast source of produce-industry insight and expertise, and he always took the time to let me pick his brain.

Congratulations, Andy, on all your achievements. Our crew and customers truly appreciate what a treat your produce is and knowing that the farm is downsizing has made every cherry, apricot and other treasure that much sweeter. We're glad to hear you'll continue to grow some fruit nearby, and that Andy's Orchard plans to sell tree-ripened produce as long as you're able. 😊

~ Robbie Sigona & the crew at Sigona’s Farmers Market

When Andy Mariani’s parents tended their orchards in the Santa Clara Valley in California nearly a century ago, the region was known as the Valley of Heart’s Delight. Blenheim apricots, Bing and Royal Ann cherries, and French prunes with pink and white blossoms bejeweled the land. Silicon eventually replaced the delight. https://nyti.ms/4bSNTj6

A melon with two names is twice as good!

This is the Piel de Sapo, also known as the Santa Claus melon. 🎅 🍈

The Spanish name, Piel de Sapo, translates to toad skin, which makes sense when you look at the rind — it gives off some strong toad vibes! 🐸 The name Santa Claus was given because its thick rind allows the melons stay fresh for months — depending on growing region and harvest (if harvested in late fall), some people found they can keep until Christmastime.

The Piel de Sapo has a thick and textured green rind with light green flesh. It’s mild in flavor and tastes similar to a honeydew. They’re incredibly juicy!

Debuting this weekend at Sigona’s: Days of Yore, a 20-year-aged Cheddar. It’s exclusively at Sigona’s!

This slowly forged masterpiece - which we dubbed 20 Winters Cheddar - is gloriously bold and sharp. It’s a timeless vintage studded with the coveted crunchy calcium crystals. It’s ruggedly crumbly, yet more creamy than hard, with a fierce lingering finish.

It’s a fantastic melter and also pairs well with heirloom apples, figs, grapes, dark ales, aged & cured meats and bold red wines.

Come by for a sample between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. today during Sampling Saturday at Sigona’s at our Palo Alto store in the Stanford Shopping Center!

It’s available for just $29.99 lb — most wedges are about 6-8 oz. Some aged cheddars will run you almost $100 a pound! Think of it this way — finally, an awesome, from-scratch mac n’ Cheese is affordable again!

Stay tuned for more into about this one-of-a-kind cheese! When it’s gone, it’s gone.

Pie of the week: Heirloom Cling Peach & Blackberry. This is a ✨Limited Edition Pie!✨

These pies are made just for us by Woodside Bakery & Cafe in Menlo Park. We take them the fruit and they turn it into pie. You can get much more custom than that!

These are made with juicy, deliciously ripe and locally grown blackberries and sweet, local heirloom peaches, grown in Ripon, California.

The crew at the Bakery wake early to make these pies, then deliver them to our stores, straight outta the oven.

Pies are available while supplies last — hurry in, they move fast!
