My grandson Landon was sweet enough to go pick figs at a friend's house and go to the Farms in Jackson County with Mimi on Thursday. I waited til the hottest part of the day after running some errands in the morning, but it was a really good haul. Mom (Edith) canned the figs, and Gary and I pickled seven pints of onions and a pint of peppers, but we are super excited about the four pints of onion relish we made. Can't wait until it sits long enough that we can try it on some dogs or brats. (We had bought a case from an Amish store and are thrilled to have found a recipe.Will include the recipe under the pic if anyone wants to try it.)

Traveling is great, but there is no place like home! We got a late start on the garden this year with all the medical things, but here comes the harvest!!! Thank you today, sweet Jesus, for giving us so much beauty, so much green, a long growing season, and humidity!
