Our first pullet egg from this years June chicks! This flock is 18 weeks old, I wasn’t expecting eggs till a bit later but some of these breeds are known to lay early. Good thing too because everyone else is molting and we got a whopping 1 egg out of 36 layers yesterday 🤦‍♀️

Bare with us while our pullets keep maturing and the older flock gets their feathers back after this molt! 🥚

Look what Ashley has been up to! No, we are not adding horses to our farm…yet (still need to convince John that this farm needs Equine!) Ashley took on an opportunity to help out a friend with her draft horse(s)! This young stallion, Stetson, is learning to harness up, pick up his feet, etc.

Stetson is by far the largest Equine I have had the pleasure to help out with! I look forward to seeing his progress, Thank you Vicki!

Peony is looking a bit rough these days 🤪 more and more feathers are turning up around here signaling molting season!

We had a busy long weekend as we both took a few days off of our 9-5’s. We made applesauce from a few bushels of apples ...

We had a busy long weekend as we both took a few days off of our 9-5’s. We made applesauce from a few bushels of apples over the fire and canned it the next day. About 46 pints canned! 🍎🍏

We also made homemade ro-tel from the tomatoes and green chilis we grew 🍅🌶️

We then made stuffed peppers and froze a dozen for future dinners 🫑

Now we have a load of apple scraps and apple juice! More canning to come, apple jelly, apple scrap jelly and apple juice—any other ideas? Last year we did apple butter and apple syrup, perhaps some of our scraps will be used to make apple c***r vinegar 🤔

Lots more preservation to come as our tomatoes come to an end and finish ripening!
