Three days of waiting… and somehow it makes the bloom even more beautiful.
Spring has a way of reminding us that not everything is meant to happen overnight. Some things unfold slowly, in their own time — and are worth every bit of the wait. 🌿🌼

There’s something about a spring thunderstorm settling over the garden that feels almost sacred.
The rain comes in, the earth drinks deeply, the lights glow a little softer at dusk… and for a moment everything feels still, even while the whole world is waking up.
Spring planting season always carries a certain excitement, but it also carries a quiet kind of hope. Seeds tucked into soil. Garden rows waiting to fill. The promise of life rising again.
This garden has seen many seasons before me — seasons of abundance, seasons of tending, seasons of rest. And standing here in the rain, I can’t help but think how much memory the soil must hold.
This year, little by little, I hope to help bring it back into full life again.
More is growing here than what can be seen just yet.
And honestly… there’s something so peaceful about that.

I was standing at the greenhouse door today, looking out into the woods… everything green, alive, stretching into the season ahead.

And then the light shifted.

The glass caught a reflection — quiet, easy to miss if you weren’t paying attention — of empty planters sitting behind me, waiting to be filled.

For a moment, it felt like standing in two places at once.

Out there… possibility. Growth. The excitement of what’s coming.
And right here… the work still waiting. The spaces not yet filled. The responsibilities that don’t pause, even when the heart is still catching up.

This season has already held both.

The beauty of new beginnings… and the weight of loss we’re still carrying.

Farming has a way of asking that of you — to keep moving forward while still holding what’s behind. To plant, to tend, to show up again… even when parts of you are still grieving, still tired, still healing.

But maybe that’s what this moment was trying to show me.

That both can exist at the same time.

The reflection didn’t take away from the view — it added to it. Gave it depth. Honesty. Meaning.

Just like this season.

So we’ll fill the empty spaces.
We’ll keep tending what’s been entrusted to us.
And we’ll carry both the hope of what’s ahead and the weight of what’s been — letting them shape the way we move forward.

One step. One planting. One quiet moment at a time. 🌿✨

Some days on a farm don’t ask permission to be hard.

Today we lost one of our does, Mabel.
She was a good mama, steady and quiet in the herd, and she leaves behind two little ones who still need tending.

This life we’ve chosen is full of growth and beauty—but it also carries loss, and the responsibility to keep going through it. Tonight that means bottles to warm, stalls to bed, and learning as we go.

Her story doesn’t end here. It continues in the care we give the ones she left behind.

That’s the rhythm of this place—
holding both grief and gratitude in the same hands.

Little starts with big potential 🌵

These cactus propagations are putting down roots and getting ready to head out to new homes—slow growing, but strong and steady, just the way they’re meant to be.

There’s a quiet kind of rhythm to spring—the rows are trenched, the potatoes are tucked in, and the windmill turns faithfully, sending water winding its way through the soil for a deep, steady drink.

Today it’s all movement and promise… the wind doing its work, the earth soaking it in, and the next layer waiting—rabbit compost and straw to blanket it all in time.

This season always reminds me that growth doesn’t rush—it settles in, takes root, and unfolds just as it should. 🌱

Spring has a way of reminding us where we started 🌱
These hardening-off tables are filling up again, just like they have for seasons before me—rows of young plants stretching toward the sun, waiting for their place in the garden. Some will stay here, tucked into the soil of this farm, and others will find their way into your gardens and homes.
This is what’s growing right now… a small glimpse of the season ahead and all the life it holds 💚
If you see something you’ve been hoping for, let me know—I love knowing where these plants are headed.

Next up on the drying rack… mullein 🌿✨

Tall, soft, and hard to miss once you know what you’re looking for — mullein has a way of standing quietly in the background, soaking up the sun and waiting for its time.

Those thick, velvety leaves almost don’t look real at first. But they’ve been used for generations, especially when it comes to supporting the lungs and respiratory system. Dried and prepared properly, mullein is often turned into teas or infusions that feel like a breath of fresh air when you need it most.

It’s one of those herbs that reminds you how much goodness can come from the wild places.

Simple plants.
Growing without fuss.
Offering more than we realize.

There’s something satisfying about hanging it up to dry — watching it slowly transform from fresh-picked to shelf-ready, knowing it’ll be there when it’s needed down the road.

Nature has a way of preparing ahead for us like that… if we’re paying attention.

Bright, steady, and full of purpose — mullein is a good one to have around. 🌞🌿

Hanging in the drying rack next this week… lemon balm 🍃✨

Soft, bright, and quietly powerful — lemon balm is one of those herbs that doesn’t demand attention, but always seems to show up right when it’s needed most.

Fresh, it carries the gentlest citrus scent… calming in a way that almost makes you pause without realizing it.

And this week, I leaned on it a little more than usual.

After a rough stomach bug that slowed everything down, a simple cup of lemon balm tea became part of the rhythm of resting and recovering. Nothing fancy — just warm, soothing, and steady. Sometimes that’s exactly what the body is asking for.

Lemon balm has been traditionally used to support digestion, calm the nervous system, and bring a sense of ease back into the body. It’s one of those herbs that feels like a deep breath… in plant form.

There’s something special about growing and drying what you end up needing.

About stepping outside, harvesting a handful of green, and turning it into comfort a few days later.

It’s a reminder that not all remedies come from a shelf — some are grown, gathered, and slowly prepared with intention.

Simple. Gentle. Enough. 🍃
