Just wanted to give an UPDATE on what's happening at Maddie Mae's . 522 Court St.
1). We are still hanging out at Baby step #7.5555556😁. We are still working on our Kitchen which has been a process. With the building setting empty for a couple years, we have been working on bringing it up to code. Grease trap is in..Thank you Rob Maquet plumbing...The Kitchen Hood is up & almost functioning...we are waiting on a part that has been ordered to finish everything. Then inspectors will come in to check everything. Working inside an old building has been a challenge for these professional companies that are doing the work! Along the way we have had to replace alot of electrical & pipelines also.
2). Will be putting in a new furnace & air for the step down rooms...
3). Then alot of cleaning.
4). Once everything is finished....we will notify the Health Department to come check us out...which I have been told can take up to a month.
Everything is a process...But we are so grateful that we do have our shop partially open. And with all this extra time, we have been able to go through lots & lots of stuff..good & bad😁..that was left here when we purchased the building "as is". And...that is what we did....we Only bought the building...the previous business of Maurie's had already been sold & had moved to Eureka...We had so, so many people come in this fall looking for Caramel Apples....and trying to explain the story over & over that our kitchen is not functional yet & that the previous business is no longer in Pekin hurts my heart. Our community has so many good memories of the previous business...I can only Hope that everyone will be able to make new memories at Maddie Mae's💗
So, with continuing on with the update...Our Maddie Mae's Lunchroom will not be open until sometime next year & I wish I could tell you when we will be able to start making some Goodies ..but you will have to continue watching for updates...But in the meantime...we will still offer our gourmet food mixes, Kathy's kitchen, gifts & so much more! And THANK YOU for Your Patience! & pray for mine😊. Mary

And they also do Backpacks for kids...which are also delivered to the Women's Shelters.
