About Us. Welcome to our farm. Jenny and I (Gene), met in 1995 in Roanoke Virginia. Married in 1996 and raised a family of 3. Two mischievous boys and a rowdy but beautiful little girl. All 3 children have grown up to become outstanding young adults and are living around the country. Our oldest son, Joshua lives in California and is a graphic designer for a fortune 500
Company. Our youngest son, Nicholas, lives in North Carolina and just finished serving in the Navy. He is now pursuing higher education. And our daughter, Jessica lives in Roanoke. She is a freelance entrepreneur with her degree in Environmental Sciences. After 29 years of Military Service, Gene finally retired November 30, 2019. In November of 2017 while pondering retirement plans, we decided that we wanted a simpler life, a small farm in the country and have the means to enjoy mother nature and all its glory. Welcome to Sycamore Springs, our "peace" of heaven in Penhook Virginia. The farm is in its infancy and we are excited for this next chapter of our lives. The first thing we have learned about being a farmer is, Its NOT simple!!! But we are still thankful for where we are, how we arrived here and the future thats to become.
Our dream for the farm is to provide healthy and delicious food for ourselves and the community we live in. We incorporate sustainable practices while limiting our environmental impacts on the land, water and air around us. Our resources are limited and we are conscious of protecting those resources. Our animals are humanely raised and in return provide nourishment for our souls and for our bodies. Our planting practices uses non genetically modified products or harmful chemicals that alter vegetable and fruit growth. We limit soil erosion and incorporate crop rotations thus improving the soil as we farm. We hope to give back to nature as much as we take and to leave this a better place after we are gone.
Thank you for visiting our page and supporting your local farmers, artisans, crafters and bakers. Everyone has choices with their lives, we hope you choose peace, love and happiness.
