Homesteading isn’t always peaceful mornings and pretty harvest baskets. Sometimes it’s broken fences, stubborn animals, weeds, weather, and chores that never seem to end. But then you gather fresh eggs, pick something you grew, or watch the sun rise over the farm and remember exactly why it’s all worth it. 🌱🐓

TGIF 🙌🙌 I cleaned out and defrosted my deep freezer yesterday and found two gallon bags of muscadines left from last year. Since we still have plenty of jam, I decided to make muscadine juice! 🍇 Those two big bags only made half a pitcher, which was a little sad 😂 But then I decided to freeze the juice in ice cube trays! This winter, I can drop a muscadine cube into my hot tea for a little natural sweetness and flavor. Just tiny frozen pieces of summer saved for a cold winter day. 💜🫖

What is everyone even getting done in this heat lately?! 😂 It takes just about everything I’ve got to make my farm rounds, feed and water everybody, and make it back inside before I melt. 🐓🐐🐄
At this point, keeping everyone alive, watered, and somewhat happy counts as a productive day around here. 😂
