Late winter at Nubi River Farm.

The snow piles have made way for mud puddles and spring seeding has begun.

I love the way the light feels in the very earliest days of spring; tender and new and glaring all at once.

Although the ground is still bare we are surrounded by abundance. The chickies are laying upwards of 220 eggs a day, the seedlings are sprouting and we have a wood stove to dance by.πŸ’ƒπŸΌ ✨ πŸ”₯ ⛰️ Happy March Friends!

Farmer Vacation 2026. 🀿 β˜€οΈ 🐠 🏝️

One of many afternoons spent snorkeling and then debriefing all that we encountered. I treasure this time away greatly, where we get to relax and play so we can come back renewed for another season of growing food for you all.

Garlic Harvest 2025. We are about halfway through!

πŸ§„
We planted around 12,000 cloves this year and mulched with straw. We usually use fabric or plastic mulch in a bed system but wanted to try a row system in straw this year. Needless to say, it’s quite weedy and we will be going back to fabric or plastic next year in beds. Oops!

πŸ§„
We grow over 10 varieties of garlic and they range in size, taste and color. Fun! But also a bit of a headache to harvest and keep track of.

πŸ§„
This garlic is planted in our new field across the street from the main farm at Nubi. We call this field Homeplace.

πŸ§„
We hang the garlic in the attic of the barn to dry for about 3 weeks and then it’s garlic for everyone!
