“This Calls for Cheesecake!”
Last weekend, I celebrated a girls’ weekend with three dear friends from ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! We are all turning 50 this year, and we came from all corners of the US to celebrate together. Naturally, I brought the cheesecake. There were so many jokes about how we would be like the Golden Girls, solving all our problems late at night over cheesecake. I had to offer this unofficial tribute to the show in the form of individual birthday cakes for us!
The crust represents Dorothy: strong, supportive, pretty vanilla. It’s made with Golden Oreos. The banana cheesecake filling is for Rose: sweet, but, well, let’s face it, she IS just a bit bananas. Blanche could only be represented with this rich, sultry bourbon caramel swirled into the cheesecake and dripping over the top with Southern Charm. Finally, Sophia brings the Italian to the party in the form of mascarpone whipped cream rosettes. The whole thing is topped off with edible gold flakes and gold pearls. Let me tell you, you may not solve all your problems, but with this cheesecake, you won’t even care about them anymore!
