Gosh I didn't think it would be this hard.

The inner turmoil I have been battling for a good year; and in all actuality the turmoil I've faced since being pregnant 6 years ago. I didn't know how to "turn it off"—the desire to work, create, serve in the creative ways that I do.

To be an entrepreneur was always my dream—or at least that was the story I told myself.

I couldn't shut off, amidst stepping over the threshold to motherhood, my internal urge to create—and yet my motherhood has required more of me, much more, than I often worry, I possibly have to give.

So here I am today, sharing that I am finally—FINALLY—pressing pause on business.

Mother Butter is still Mother Butter, she's simply sold out and I cannot commit to when she'll be back. Or when I will.

While I am still processing all of the many lessons within this particular entrepreneurial chapter, I find it funny that none of them are about business. It's about me, my family, my values, my grief, my capacity. I am simply getting a lot more honest with myself; the harder truths. Perhaps this means wiser.

Serving you and developing this beautiful product is still such a sweet dream. I pray that the power of the pause will return someone stronger one day. I promise to let you know when that day arrives.

xo, Kristin

It’s not just about the butter.

There sure is a lot to be grateful for—especially—ESPECIALLY—when you can accept the full spectrum of feelings amidst the human experience. To feel defeated, to feel confused, uncomfortable, to allow yourself to witness your grief… something I’ve come to learn is more a condition, and forever piece of you,m. I have a lot to share on that topic as I continue to very amateurly navigate it myself, but by facing it I’ve come to understand so much clearer that by doing so, it makes the joy, love, and harmonies in life just so much brighter, bolder.

Many people may feel grief creep up this holiday season. You may not even know that’s who *she* is. I hope you cry. I hope you laugh. I hope you move your body and give/get some good hugs.

Keep breathing. You’re not alone.

Thank you for this moment with my two little hearts 💕.

It is an incredible honor to be included within ’s list of “Best Gifts for Vegans”. First and foremost, Kiki was NOT going to add a food product that was not delicious, so we are thrilled to know we pass her taste test (and that her write up shares she’s eating it in that moment by the spoonful 🥄 ).

But even more importantly, the recognition is focused on the values we built our product on — which wasn’t to serve the vegan community specifically, but to simply do WHAT’S RIGHT within our design and overall values; which means we can serve many while not adding more waste to our world 🌎.

We love the idea of gifting Mother Butter. It’s a true act of love. You’re giving your friend or family member a jar full of delicious and raw health, that will comfort them in the morning, the afternoon and at night (a scoop of magnesium rich MB chocolate after dinner? 💋🤌🏼)

We’re in such good company. Congrats to some of our selected favs from the list—please check them out and follow! And side note— we’re finishing a fresh run of MB Chocolate as we speak! Orders going out by end of day—thanks so so much all for the love and interest!! 🥲😅🥰

7am and the house felt snoozy. Today I woke for the first time, in a long time, saying to myself, “You’ve got this day! You can do it.” I slipped out of the bedroom, stuck in my earbuds, took a deep breath and pressed play on a meditation. The effort, the bravery, to return to MYSELF… let’s just say I’ve been “rebelling” against myself, perhaps. NOT doing “the things” I know I need to do in order to be centered, strong. I just haven’t seen the hole in time to fit *her* back in… but today felt like a new day.

I pressed play and after 1 solid minute, this Rottweiler of a child I have came barreling out of his room, “GOOD MORNING MAMA!!” at a decibel level you may only experience from the pit at a Rage Against the Machine concert (showing my age there I’d guess).

I couldn’t help but laugh. It felt hilarious. And ridiculous. And here we go, this day must begin. Baby arrived next with a full cockatoo bed head and within moments I’m shuffling them downstairs for waffles (with mother butter ofc), Sesame Street and the countdown to out-the-door.

I want to be honest. Recently I’ve had thoughts that if I could fire myself from my business and from my role as mother and homemaker, I would. Stuff just doesn’t feel like it adds up and I prefer better for all of these dependents. But I know, I’m dependent on myself too, and I have to step up and care for this engine in order to be all I need to.

I just find it ironic that 21 years of education, 20+ years of working gave me such little preparation for my motherhood. And I’m dramatic, yes. And I’m apparently just a total lightweight when it comes to this domestic stuff. So pardon me, please.

But this IS Mother Butter right now. Pressing through September one day at a time.

Super fresh butter being jarred as we speak — restocks coming and orders will be shipped tomorrow. Much love to you all and to your Rottweilers. Don’t forget your scoops today. Xoxo

Mother Butter friends and fam,
Yes, MB is a little business but it’s so so personal. My life, (lady on the right), is fully integrated. I dreamt of this little biz just as I dreamt of making my little family; it just so happened to all occur at the same time and girl, I *may* not recommend that. No matter, my boys are growing and the butter is still churning.

We moved to our happy place last week for the summer — Cape May, NJ. Here we can move a little slower, love a little longer, marvel in nature and community.

This is your invitation to visit us. Every Tuesday, 3-7pm, our family will be selling your favorite hormone-healthy seed butter spread from the West Cape May farmers market.

See you soon???

Much much love…: and much more to come. Please stay tuned…

Xo,
Kristin

Oh hey 👋 Can we talk hormonal harmony?

For generations we’ve issued a narrative that “that time of the month,” mood-swings, literally living in pain because you are a woman was just “what it was.” And then, “40% of infertility is ‘unexplained’,” and further, “menopause is just hell.” It’s kinda crazy being a woman, right?

Our hormonal system may not be something we’re tuning into because, well, we’re not talking about it.

There’s a lot to learn and uncover, but getting closer to understanding how your body functions is getting closer to understanding yourself; leading you toward greater knowing and ultimately vitality. But ok, let’s talk FOOD.

Did you know there are ways to eat to support the 4 phases of your hormonal cycle? (Shoot—did you know there are 4 phases???)

One variation that we were inspired by is a little funny measure known as . The four seeds encouraged to be ground and eaten by Naturopaths and Dietitians are what make up the foundation of Mother Butter. Pumpkin, sunflower, sesame and flax seeds provide you with significant:

🔘Omega-3 fatty acids (for cognition & cardiovascular health)
🔘Magnesium (for energy, rest and bone health)
🔘Iron (most women lack)
🔘Vitamin E (nerve & muscle development)
🔘 +7grams of Protein to keep you going

All of these functions and more lead you toward greater balance no matter your age, phase or stage. So why not enhance your breakfast, lunch, snack or late night craving with something that truly FEEDS you?

It’s time to get a scoop.

Meet my mom, Pamela. (Or Ms. Pam to the 50+ years of preschoolers she shepherded.) I didn’t “get” a lot about my mom until the very moment I learned I was about to become one myself. 35 years thinking I knew it all and now I look back to realize how little I did. My mom jumped right in with me when my son was born and has been here to witness me, to push and cheer me on since. Five years into being a mother myself now, it’s also five-ish years of a new chapter alongside her.

I quietly developed Mother Butter starting the summer of 2020, launching Mother’s Day 2021 (3 years!!). It must have been sometime in the fall when I decided on our brand name and I texted my mom:

“Hey mom — do me a favor — write the words “Mother Butter” on a piece of paper, take a picture and send it back to me.”

Her response was something like:
“Oh geez Kris, what are you up to now…”

Moments later the pictures came in (because she always pulls through) and I knew it—boom—that’s our logo.

It wasn’t just because this was the handwriting I spent much of my childhood trying to forge — it felt nostalgic “mom”… I imagined many people had fond feelings about the concentrated penmanship of their own mothers, and would know when they found our butter on the shelves that this was a product from the heart ❤️

Thanks mom for all the lessons, the life and for letting me be ME (even if you roll your eyes at first).

Happy Mother’s Day to all. Hope you had a beautiful day. There’s still time to tell a mom you love and admire them btw… let them know; it’s the fuel we need ♥️🤍
