This week’s whiskey adventure was a drive to the A. Smith Bowman Distillery in Fredericksburg, VA with my friend, Sanketh. He needed to pick up a lottery allocated bottle of rye whiskey, so I was the designated passenger. A nice little distillery in the Sazerac family, with some hard working Vendome stills, many palletized barrels maturing, and a pleasant staff running a cute gift shop. The newborn sized onesie made me chuckle, as did the adult T shirt that reminded me of a scene from the animated film from @1982, The Last Unicorn.

Do you like a good Old Fashioned, but don't feel like mixing it up yourself? At BOTLD's stores in Center City and at the King of Prussia Mall, as well as online at www.BOTLD.com, we are serving up quality Old Fashioneds that need only some ice, an orange slice and a cherry. My favorite is the Hoste Gold Fashioned out of Illinois, made with a 9 year bourbon, 10 and 6 year ryes and some incredibly created saffron bitters
(far right in the photo for the ingredients), but for considerably less money, one can enjoy BOTLD's orange forward house brand Old Fashioned, Bell Hopper, or the Automatic Jones Smoked Old Fashioned. And if you like to mix it up, blending the latter two together is also a delicious cocktail. 😉

I have a great respect for Copper Works' American Single Malt whiskies. Barrel 351 is one of three single barrels in my inventory at the BOTLD PA King of Prussia Mall store and is my clear favorite. This whiskey is incredibly flavorful, almost like a citrus zested real root beer or lemony French toast with natural maple syrup. Just pour this whiskey on a Monte Cristo sandwich.
Just a delicious, full bodied whiskey with a rich, warm mouthfeel and a tremendously long finish. Yumyumyum.

A cool night calls for a warming dram.
This sherried Longrow is from "The Cage" at Springbank. Rich fruit and spice with an easy peat accompaniment to a long finish and not so much as a hint of sulphur. A wee splash of water to bring down the temperature makes this dram nearly perfect. So glad I purchased a backup!

Two new products in the BOTLD PA stores this week, a new and inexpensive house brand wheat based vodka, Ozzie's Semi Famous Vodka, and a new Amaro from Americano, the Viola. Come in and try these and some of the other 70 some products we have in stock, including the ready to drink Automatic Jones Espresso Martini (approved by non other than my personal espresso martini critic, Juliet Moritz). The King of Prussia Mall store is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday from
11 am to 6 pm.

I have to say I'm liking the 100 Pf on this offering that I have yet to try. Westland has just put out a combo of their ASM blended with MGP light whiskey at 85 Pf that I have yet to try. I like the creativity of both in any event, and look forward to tasting both.

Balmenach is one of the best distillers of malts that are put out by independent bottlers. While it is very good with time in finishing barrels or not standard ExBourbon maturation, I prefer it in first fill ex bourbon.

And I apologize that the utilized glass did not match the producer of this delightful dram, Gordon & MacPhail Whisky.
