Join us this Giving Twosday in supporting the Weavers Way Community Fund (WWCF). Donations will help support WWCF’s efforts to improve healthy food access in the communities served by the Co-op. In partnership with Ambler’s community groups, Weavers Way Community Fund will continue to help fund and operate the Ambler Community Fridge, located at the Ambler Mennonite Church. Ambler Community Fridge provides free food to anyone in need, no question asked. The success of the fridge depends on its community.

October is National Co-op Month! 💚🌱 All month long, we’re celebrating the people and communities that make Weavers Way special across Ambler, Chestnut Hill, Germantown, and Mt. Airy.

First up: meet Margaret and Jay, longtime Weavers Way members shopping with us for almost 50 years! 🤯

For them, the Co-op means access to quality local produce and fresh food, a commitment to social and food justice, and the kind of community where you’re pretty much guaranteed to run into someone you know. 🥕🥬🤝

And when Jay casually tells the cashier, “I’m the owner,” he’s not wrong. 😂

At Weavers Way, our members really are owners. That’s what makes a co-op different: members collectively own the business and help shape the community it serves. Margaret and Jay have watched Weavers Way grow and change over nearly five decades, but those deep community connections are still at the heart of it all.

Take a journey to the Cajamarca region of Peru and meet some of the people behind the coffee in your cup with Virginia, Weavers Way's Merchandising Coordinator. Through photos, stories, and a touch of humor, Virginia will share her firsthand experience of coffee, community, and cooperation as part of an Equal Exchange delegation that visited the Sol y Café Cooperative and farmers in the Santa Rosa community of northern Peru.

Join Virginia for an in-person presentation at Weavers Way Ambler on Saturday, October 10, from 11 am to 12 pm., or attend virtually via Zoom on October 12 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm RSVP through our event page.

Join your fellow co-op members to socialize and discuss all things Weavers Way!

Our 2026 Fall General Member Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mt Airy's Commodore Barry Club, located at 6815 Emlen St., in the main ballroom.

General Manager Jon Roesser will present a business update about the Co-op and host a Q&A session.

Drinks and a generous spread of soup, sandwiches, and seasonal platters will be provided! Enjoy b**r, w**e, and delicious n/a beverages. This is a zero-waste event, so to help reduce waste, we ask that all members bring their own dishware, including a plate, cup, utensils, and napkin. Also, you will earn 2 hours of working member credit for attending!

Persimmons season is on its way to peak season. Let's start with the basics: we carry two varieties of persimmons, Fuyu and Hachiya.

Fuyu persimmons are short, flat, and square-shaped, with light orange skin, while Hachiya persimmons are cone-shaped with bright orange skin.

The biggest difference? Fuyu persimmons are ready to eat right away and can be enjoyed crisp or soft. Hachiya persimmons should be left to ripen at room temperature until they're very soft and almost custard-like before eating.

Fuyu persimmons are great sliced up for snacking, added to fall salads, or paired with cheese. Once fully softened, Hachiya persimmons can be enjoyed right out of the skin with a spoon or incorporated into baked goods.
Now that we're all pros at persimmons, let's go grab a few today!

Turn your fall produce into a sweet, healthy treat for the whole family! Created and demonstrated by Sophie, a graduate student in Nutrition and Dietetics at Thomas Jefferson University, this recipe combines pomegranate seeds, dark melting chocolate, and pistachios to make a delicious bark. Pomegranate & Pistachio Bark takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and can be stored in an airtight container for up to five days. It's incredibly easy to make and absolutely delicious! The recipe is included at the end of the video.

Happy National Co-op Month!
Co-op Month has been celebrated nationally since 1964, when it was proclaimed by Orville Freeman, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and former Minnesota governor. Here at Weavers Way, we are joining more than 65,000 cooperatives and credit unions across the nation in celebrating Co-op Month.

Visit us throughout October and keep an eye out for discounts on a variety of co-op brands, from Cabot Creamery products to Frontier Co-op spices. Across the United States, co-ops are actively demonstrating that it is possible to operate thriving businesses while protecting the environment and strengthening local economies. Be a part of the movement!
