Japan, meet Ireland.

Who doesn’t love a refreshing highball? This one featuring does not disappoint, in fact it may take the top spot for me with the sherry addition.

THE HIDDEN TREASURE
1.5 oz Redbreast 12 year25 oz Tio Pepe Sherry25 oz simple syrup
3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Top with soda water
Garnish with an orange wheel

Redbreasts’ signature bottling, the 12 year is matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. In other words, it’s a flavor bomb that should always have a spot in your home bar.

Slainté!

Raising a glass to all the Dads today 🥃

Father’s Day took on new meaning for me when I became a Dad in 2011. It’s something I actually dreamed about as a kid. It took on a yet another, albeit different, meaning when I suddenly lost my Stepdad to a heart attack in 2018 and my Dad to cancer in 2022.

Today, it’s about honoring their legacy and doing my best to create one for my family and I. This year in lieu of giving gifts to my Dads, I’m gifting those that have played a father figure role in my life through their own legacy, continued support and example. A whiskey steeped in tradition, 12 year makes the perfect gift for such an occasion.

To my fellow Dads out there (and you single moms doing all the work!), here’s to you.

AI made me a superhero, not mad about it.

Superpowers include:

- Making clear ice
- Crispy bokeh
- Forgetting cocktail specs that I just read
- Ability to sense when someone touches the thermostat

Kryptonite: Bloody Marys ☠️

My favorite might be the last one which looks like a mashup of myself and Taika Watiti 😂

Have a good weekend!

Hello, again 👋🏼 (Recipe below)

Back from a good break from content creation. TBH, I was pretty burnt out on it. More on that below, but first, a cocktail. Recently picked up a bottle of Amaro Meletti (). You need this in your home bar. I’m all about simple cocktails these days and it doesn’t get much simpler than this…

MEZCALLETTI
1 oz Mezcal OR Reposado Tequila
1 oz Amaro Meletti
2 dash orange bitters (optional)
Lemon oil expression

A ton of complex flavors here! Great after dinner drink.

So my life outside IG has changed a lot since I started this in 2016, as they tend to do. My kids are older, my wife is almost 2 years sober and I couldn’t be more proud of her. The reality is cocktails at home have taken a back seat for a while – and I’m perfectly ok with that.

This made me question where to go next with this page. Kill it? Change focus? I didn’t want to keep doing it if I didn’t have a real passion behind it.

If you know me at all, you know I’ve never been in this for “followers”. In fact I think I’ve been sitting at 14-16k for two YEARS. Doesn’t bother me. Sure, I’ve ridden the dopamine roller coaster of seeing a post explode or follower count jump overnight and it IS addicting (if you haven’t looked into the science of this, please do, it’s amazing…and frightening).

But, it’s all too easy to lose your ‘why’ and even yourself on that ride. Authenticity and creativity are paramount for me and that will never change. While this has always been a side gig/hobby for me, it’s strange that I’ve still felt ‘boxed’ in and limited on what I could or couldn’t post here.

All that to say, change is a comin’. I can’t tell you what it will look like, but there’s no sense in feeling constricted by a label or single subject matter. Today might be a cocktail, tomorrow a dumb Dad reel. Who knows? Life is a journey and I’m here for the ride, whatever that looks like.

You do you.

Hey there, long time no see. 👋🏼

I took much a needed break from the socials but I couldn’t miss with an important PSA: Don’t sleep on the Enzoni!

ENZONI
1 oz Gin
1 oz Campari
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
4-5 muddled grapes (green or red)

Add ingredients to a shaking tin, muddle grapes, add ice and shake. Double strain into a rocks glass over a large clear cube. The Enzoni was created by bartender Vincenzo Errico of Milk & Honey, NYC.

I’ve been laying low, spending more time with family and creating healthier habits in my day to day. Still haven’t landed on what’s next for this page, but I’d love for to you come along. The only thing I’ve missed about social is the community.
Have a great weekend y’all.

FALL MONTY 🍂

Someone told me that it’s and I just so happened to have made a killer fall-themed punch over the weekend featuring the lovely Amontillado. Grab a comfy chair and enjoy:

15 ounces amontillado sherry
5 ounces Lairds Bonded AppleJack
5 ounces lemon juice
2 ounces cinnamon syrup
5 lemons
3/4 cup sugar
10 ounces strong tea (Tea Forte Harvest Apple or Roobis)
1 bottle Spanish cider

Recipe: Katie Stipe of NYC

Instructions
Make an oleo saccharum from the peels of the lemons and the sugar. Stir into tea until dissolved. Stir in the rest of the ingredients (minus the cider) and discard the lemon peels. Pour into a punch bowl over large ice and top with the cider. Ladle into individual servings. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and apple slices.

Hit my stories for a link to a recipe scaler for individual servings. Cheers!

THAT LOW ABV LIFE

This summer I really got into low ABV cocktails, many of which utilize wine as the primary ingredient. Bright, refreshing and full of flavor, they’re also a great way to use up fruit juices.

Here is a great little Cobbler recipe utilizing a delicious fortified sweet wine from Wines of Roussillon (). This region’s unique geology and microclimate allows each of the 24 authorized grape varieties to reach its fullest expression.

1.5 oz red wine ( Maury) 75 oz fresh lemon juice5 oz fresh orange juice5 oz simple syrup

Add ingredients to a shaker with ice, shake and fine strain into a snifter with pebble ice.

À ta santé

BOOZE WAVE 🏄‍♂️

Figured I’d throw my hat in the ring for ’s challenge. This was shot before the challenge existed so it’s not done via droplets, but I still dig the cascading whiskey over one sexy piece of ice.

Cheers to the weekend IG fam! 🥃
