Unfortunately due to covid regulations, we are not putting together our beloved Top Local Chef competition. It's just not an event that would work well in a socially distanced setting.
Instead, we are working on a year-long competition and celebration highlighting Pinellas County restaurants, bakeries, breweries and food trucks.
There's absolutely no fees for businesses to participate. If you're a restaurateur, or have a friend or client who is, please check out the press release for all the details: https://www.localshops1.com/blog/you-re-in-for-something-tasty
Because local businesses need us more than ever.
This is a collaboration between Club Savor and LocalShops1.
Congrats Bucs, another win for Tampa Bay!! !
All we do is WIN!
Congratulations to President Biden and Vice President Harris. May their success be America's success and may we all regain our faith in one another.
Tonight, in Washington, D.C. and across the nation, we came together to honor the over 400,000 Americans we’ve lost to COVID-19. The last year has tested us in unimaginable ways, but now it’s time we begin to heal and overcome — together.
Have a happy new year!
Merry Christmas to all!
Happy holiday season!

Ester Venouziou, founder of LocalShops1, is one of the most vocal advocates for supporting small, locally-owned businesses, makers, and artists in the Tampa Bay region. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a new burden on those very entrepreneurs who rely on our bustling market scene to reach customers....
Congratulations Wicked Oak Barbeque on opening up a permanent location!! They absolutely floored us with their amazing food truck at our last festival, and we can't wait to check out their new place!

"Where There's A Tail And A Cold Nose, There Is Hope" is a story about a wounded warrior, his service dog and the entire family whose life was changed as a result.
Just one of the inspired articles in the newest THE NEW BARKER magazine!
The newest issue of THE NEW BARKER dog magazine is on its way to you, dear subscriber. We are excited to finally be able to reveal the cover. It's been a long time coming, and we thank you for your patience along with the support and encouragement you've sent our way over the last couple of months.
Two things you may notice about the cover.
First, there is a child with a dog. This is the first time in our 14 years of publishing THE NEW BARKER that a human has been part of the cover artwork. In this issue, you'll read why we felt the timing was right to include a human on the cover and what inspired us to select Romanian artist Valeria Moldovan.
Second, we changed the tagline to better reflect the magazine's content and mission: A gathering place for inspired dog stories.
Some of our features in this issue include a story by Tina K. VaLant on one of the programs the Florida Department of Corrections makes available to some of its inmates. We also have a feature by Brian Kilcommons on the importance of relationship building with our dogs, especially when some of us are heading back to work and leaving our dogs home alone.
We reveal the lengths to which we go to make sure our dogs are safer and healthier in two separate stories. One involves a new pool, designed especially for two adorable French Bulldogs, Pete and Shorty. The other story, by Heather Schulman, is about Whisper, a Standard Poodle who has had health issues since she was a puppy. These dogs, like your dogs, are lucky to have such devoted loving humans looking after them.
"Where There's A Tail And A Cold Nose, There Is Hope" is a story about a wounded warrior, his service dog and the entire family whose life was changed as a result. We did a Zoom interview and set up a most unconventional photo session, thanks to the talented Foto Bohemia.
When you receive your copy, please take a moment to check out our advertising partners. Would you kindly make a point of selecting one or two to visit their social media pages? Like/follow them and let them know you saw their message/ad in THE NEW BARKER dog magazine. It's through their support that this magazine, once again, is made possible for you. 🐕🥳🐾🐾

Retail and restaurant workers interacting with lots of customers are at higher risk than the rest of us. Be respectful and helpful. It doesn't hurt you to take simple precautions, but it sure as heck can hurt them if you don't.
For weeks Samantha Clarke calmly listened to the insults and threats directed daily at her and her employees by people who learned they couldn't enter the Modesto, California, store without wearing a mask and following other coronavirus-related rules. But never, says the 17-year veteran of retail sa...

Happy mother's day!
Seriously, though, happy Mother’s Day to all the moms here!!! ❤️ Hope you all have a beautiful day!
Maybe you don't believe face coverings are important. We're not experts and we're not here to judge. FACT: Small businesses can't survive for long on your business alone.
If you want mom and pop shops to survive, please go above and beyond so that EVERYONE begins to feel safe shopping and eating out.
Going out to eat? Wear face coverings whenever you aren't seated at your table.
Heck, buy a fun one from a local shop/artist and spread the love even more! Here are some options, where 100% of the money (after any bank CC fees) goes to the business: https://buylocaltampabay.com/s?q=face+masks.
How fast we go back to normal depends mostly on how quickly we develop trust in each other to take precautions.
Business owners aren't health policy experts, and don't have any more information or training than the rest of us. Make their decisions easier by wearing masks, following all guidelines and being patient.
Businesses: Creative Loafing Tampa is compiling a list of stores reopening to in-person customers. Use this link to let them know your plans: www.cltampa.com/reopenings
