Gallagher Family Farm

Gallagher Family Farm Surviving and Thriving on the Great Plains The current site of the Gallagher Family Farm is about 20 miles north of the original 1904 homestead at Cleveland.

But it actually lives and moves in the hearts, minds and memories of all who cherish such a place, any family touchstone.

Out watching a zillion fireflies just before 11 tonight, and a bonus view of Venus and Jupiter west of the house.❤️

Went “stalking the wild asparagus” for tonight’s supper. Sorry, no pics. It is so good baked in the oven with fish.

Having water on hand in case of emergencies is always a good idea. There are many ways to safely store water...but if you can food at home, you should know that you may safely can water. In fact, many people like to do this as they empty their canning jars of food. (Why store jars empty when you could store them full of water?)

To do so:

1. Bring a pot of potable water to a full boil. Boil for 5 minutes.

2. Fill hot jars with the water, leaving 1/2 inch headspace.

3. Process jars 10 minutes in a boiling water bath canner. (If at 1001-6000 feet, process 15 minutes. If above 6000 feet, process 20 minutes.)
