Winter is coming!

The peacocks are getting their usual peacock salad but starting to add extra nutrients to bulk up for winter ❄️ 🦚

Happy 2121!

It’s going to be a great year!

We have our Blue Slate Turkeys here—they are a rare breeding pair (also known as the Lavender Turkey) and they can produce three different colors of offspring! They are part of the Heritage breed and are a downright gorgeous bird!

A recent addition of these perfect peacocks! Check out the teal, turquoise and deep ocean blue in the neck of that white plumage!!

Then—let’s not forget the Tree Kat—she likes to perch as much as the chickens!

We will have baby birds this spring and lots of love! Animals are our passion here on the homestead!

These two are always getting into trouble, then when you catch them in the act...they yell at you and run away!

They are awesome to have free-range because they love to eat ticks, in fact, they are nicknamed the “Tick Assassin” —brave foragers!

I am happy to have them on my homestead tick patrol.

SURPRISE! Flipped over this piece of pine we are working on for a project coming in the near future and here we found our wood spider (he hangs out with garage toad).

Don’t worry, he is safe and is left to enjoy the piney goodness of his little slice of heaven. 🕷 🌲

Guys. Meet Splintz.

He grew up a little different and that is okay because we are all a little different!

Bee just adores him and they have become best friends. He is pretty remarkable and at first we didn’t think he would make it.

When he was a chick we made homemade splints for his feet (hence the name). It did work to straighten them out but as he grew bigger they decided to curve inward again.

This malformation is known as curly toe paralysis and was caused by riboflavin (vitamin B2) deficiency when he was just a chick.

Luckily, he is well cared for here and has a special helper to make sure he has extra special attention. 💜🐓🌟
