“Where do you get your stuff?” is one of our most frequently asked questions. The answer is from all sorts of places: thrift stores, estate sales, our consignment program, but also so much more. We’re always grateful to partner with contractors who bring us in to find treasures in old houses before everything is torn apart and thrown out.
These clear outs are part construction job, part archaeology dig. Sifting through the trash of someone who has passed on is fascinating, a little gross, and sometimes sad. Seeing a lifetime of accumulated memories get thrown unceremoniously in a dumpster is infuriating. But our world is (currently) not built for reuse. Clear outs like ours are just a bandaid solution to a massive problem, but we hope that it can be a tiny part in building the zero-waste movement and circular economy.
So stay tuned for a full video next week about this latest house, we’re excited to share our findings of both inventory and insights into our human condition.
