Finally got up to Nothingman on Mt. Washington. This was my first time trying one of Troy Beck’s famous fried chicken sandwiches and they definitely lived up to the hype.

Taylor went with the Tave Dhomas, Jess got the Buffalo, and Alex & I both went with the Nobu.

I was disappointed with the Crab Rangoon Fries though, cream cheese piled on frozen waffle fries and for $18... two thumbs down. Probably should’ve gone with one of their buffalo chicken appetizers instead.

The pierogi came loaded with caramelized onions, which I appreciate. Overall, a nice neighborhood spot and the chicken sandwiches are definitely worth checking out.

Unreal Sunday brunch at Brassero Grill today. We had the milanesa mollete with thin, crispy chicken cutlets and topped with roasted poblanos, loaded chilaquiles with carne asada, and one of my all-time favorites - the house-made chorizo quesadilla. Even their simple chips with guac and bean dip is a 10/10. All around perfect meal! If you have not yet been, I am telling you it’s a must.

Dinner at Bacanora Phx 🌵🔥

I’m in Phoenix for work and was able to snag a last minute bar reservation at Bacanora. This acclaimed restaurant was recently named one of The New York Times 41 best Mexican restaurants in the US and chef, René Andrade, won best chef for the James Beard Southwest region in 2024.

A lot of the cooking here is done over a wood fired grill, but everything was so fresh and vegetal. My favs were the pulpo (octopus) al pastor with charred pineapple, pickled Fresno, cilantro, and requesón, & the nopales (cactus) ensalada with charred corn, pickled jícama, red onion, and chiltepín. It was my first time trying nopales and I’m an instant fan. I also did the scallop crudo with avocado, Tajín, lime and habanero.

And obviously I had to try bacanora at Bacanora. It’s an agave spirit from Sonora, similar to mezcal, and they ended up pouring me some from the owner’s stash that they had recently brought back from Sonora.

Exceedingly glad I prioritized coming here. Wonderful meal and experience. My only regret is that Taylor Brahan - Pittsburgh Hairstylist isn’t here with me to order even more dishes and to share the experience.

You’re never too old for a little fun at Kennywood 🎢 Corndogs, Potato Patch fries, roller coasters, and an obligatory water ride. Old school nostalgia.

Not many places in Pittsburgh have shawarma down, but Pita My Shawarma | Pittsburgh Restaurant, Food Truck, & Catering gets it right 🇱🇧 🌯

The chicken is hand-stacked on the spit, roasted until crispy on the outside, shaved to order, and loaded into a pita along with some other goodies. my favorite part being the toum.

They’ve teamed up with Lavender Acres Winery to add a wine bar which is going to be ideal for the upcoming fall evenings.

Truly had the best time at the CNH Javor Croatian Club Picnic 🇭🇷

We ate sarma, ćevapčići, Croatian potato salad and haluski, and washed it all down with a little šljivovica. This was my first time having ćevapčići, and it was unreal. The spiced grilled meat with ajvar and kajmak was the perfect combination.

We spent the afternoon enjoying traditional Croatian music and dancing, great food and drinks, and a celebration of Croatian culture… I need to find more events like this around Pittsburgh.

Dinner at Poulet Bleu 🇫🇷🍸

We had a nice evening full of martinis and some French classics.

Food-wise we each got a French onion soup, and shared the Lyonnaise salad, gnocchi Parisienne, roasted duck, bistro burger with fries, and ofc the chocolate soufflé for two.

It’s rare that Taylor and I agree on a favorite dish, but the gnocchi was clearly the best bite of the night. They were delicate, melt-in-your-mouth, and in a highly addictive beurre monte sauce. The burger is my 2nd favorite tavern-style burger in the city, only behind Foxhole. Probably would’ve done the steak frites, but we had it the night before at Meat & Potatoes.

LeMont might just be underrated.

I never see it mentioned on Pittsburgh restaurant lists, and while I think the entrées are overpriced, I think the overall experience more than makes up for it.

I don’t know anywhere else in the city still doing tableside Steak Diane, the classic cocktails are always on point, and they have the best view.

Maybe I’m a little biased since we got married there in 2022, but I think they deserve more love.
