To garden the "Old Fashioned" way - try seaweed!
Seaweed was THE fertilizer for farmers and gardeners until the industrial revolution when oil-based fertilizers were developed.

I have whole, fresh seaweed $1/lb for sale - I recommend 1lb/2ft² for light coverage, 1lb/ft² for dense coverage.

Did you know that marine fertilizers & foods are more nutrient dense than land-based?
The process behind this is called Atmospheric Nutrient Cycling, and has 3 parts:
1. Dust!! Dust from deserts is FULL of iron, phosphorus, and all sorts of trace minerals... & when it gets windy, which is often, it all falls into the ocean
2. Nitrogen gas in the atmosphere is taken up by marine microbes, and fixed into a form that is readily used by plants (and humans)
3. Upwelling cycles - once these microbes & phytoplankton die off, they get swept up into the upwelling cycle where their nutrients are absorbed by seaweeds (& other organisms)

So whether you use seaweed - lobster shells - crab shells, even sea water to grow your food or in your diet, you are accessing an abundance of nutrients that you can't find in solely land-based products.
