Back and rested from cooking at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue. Jim Pattenaude came up and cooked with me for the first time and overall we had fun and learned a lot! Saturday we cooked sides and Sunday we cooked the usual 4 proteins and sausage. The new American Royal campus is awesome and it was fun meeting new teams from all over the world.

Overall 223rd out of 370

While not the results we were hoping for we are overall happy with all our turn ins. I plan to take what I learned through this year and come back next year stronger than ever with even higher goals.

Jim Pattenaude and I have the Outlaw BBQ Smokers pits lit up with the big meats on for our first time at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue. Yesterday we turned in our sides today we focus on meat. With a little luck we will hear our name called this afternoon!

Congrats to all of for claiming each spot from GC all the way to 11th place overall this weekend in Carrollton, KY!
There are those that say the sticks are dead, yet there are those that can’t wait to make the jump from cans to a stick…
Looking at the top 11 finishes we have 8 sticks, 10 Ringos, and 1 BFR.
We’ve put in the time making the pits, and y’all continue to perfect your craft…a perfect match I would say!

Yesterday I cooked solo at Bands and BBQ at the Point in Carrollton, KY for the first time. If you havent cooked this one check it out. Beautiful scenery great people and huge crowd of amazing teams! The Outlaw BBQ Smokers ran like a dream and it showed in the results.

Chicken 6th (176.0000 new PR)
Ribs 13th
Pork 8th (176.0000 new PR)
Brisket 21st
Overall 8th out of 38 with a 691.3828 (new PR and first top 10 in KCBS!)

This event was one of the funniest solo cooks I have done. I want to give and a huge shout out and thank you to all the organizers and volunteers for all the work they put into making this even so fun allowing them to run so smoothly. My neighbors BBQ Maestros who helped keep it fun and kicked my butt in our one dollar side bet on brisket (Congratulations, but i will get you next time). As always it was fun cooking and hanging out with my good friends Will and Shelby from Rigby Roo's BBQ

Overall, I am super proud of the boxes I was able to complete and turn in. Next stop is September 26th at Praise the Lard Barbecue Cook-Off in Murphysboro Illinois.

With not having a competition this weekend I was able to take some time and do some maintenance on the trailer. Cleaned out the inside and gave it a good scrub as well as changed the wheel bearings, new rims and tires. Thank you Carl Camacho for teaching me how to do the wheel bearings and use of your barn! Also stocked up for the rest of the season on some awesome Brisket from Snake River Farms Looking forward to seeing everyone at Bands & BBQ at the Point in Carrollton Kentucky
