What do you when you are waiting for the ground to dry out? You do all the long overdue farm projects! One of the well houses roof and door was way past its useful life, so last week John and Landon replaced the roof and built a new door. The roof was a joint effort while the door was mostly Landon. Looks great to us!! Nect they will repair the hole at the bottom of the well house and should be good for a long time!!

While bigger things like harvest are happening on the north end of the farm….smaller projects are happening near the original farmhouse. This is the smokehouse. Originally built to most likely do what the name entails…smoke meat…for most of its life it has been used for other purposes. During the depression, relative might have slept in it and for the last 30 years….it has been a place to store junk. We pulled out a lot of trash…and a few treasures. 2 trailer loads were hauled away. The floor was shoveled…and then broom swept. Next week we can do some much needed repairs to the wood at the bottom and put some paint on this wood to protect it for the next 100 years. We’re not sure what it will be used for-but it won’t be for storage.
