Letās be honest for a second⦠farm life isnāt always aesthetic barns and Pinterest-perfect chicken coops.
Most of the time, it looks like this.
Housing farm animals often means reusing and repurposing whatever materials you already have laying around. Building things with random materials takes a little creativity.
This barn was originally built for horses, so we had to enclose one of the stalls to turn it into a chicken coop. We reused plywood we already had, fixed the door, added hardware cloth/chicken wire, and covered every gap and opening we could find.
Is it perfect? No, but for us, yes.
Itās safe, it works, and it gives our chickens protection from predators. We still have some finishing touches to do and fencing to add for their outside area, but weāre getting there.
Farm life is a lot of figuring things out as you go and doing the best you can with what you have.
And it definitely helps having a supportive and handy husband who makes sure things get done.
