LET'S HONOR YOUR HISTORY: A few days ago we shared some founders history of our farm with you. Please share the first and middle names of all your parents & grandparent with with us here. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3102503746636448&id=1512683248951847

These two sweethearts are the origin of Wise Family Farm. Monroe and Carrie Wise. Our ice cream and snow cone shack is named after my Grandmother. Carrie Belle's Sweet Treats. She made amazing tea cakes. Monroe and Carrie had 6 children that lived to adulthood. Avery, Huey, Ester Bea, Stanley, Clytee, and Toy. They all worked hard on this 80 acres of poor Flatwood soil in a community known Lone Star and Shady Grove. They didn't have much in material goods, but they ate well, and were rich in love. The Wise Family has stayed close throughout the years and all my First Cousins are more like brothers and sisters to me, even though life has carried many far from the home place, Monroe and Carrie's Farm, Wise Family Farm, connects us all. I feel like my own brothers and sisters are blessed to have been raised on the original farm and 4 out of the 6 of us still live on the original 80 acres. We still grow lots of food, not only for our own family, but for our community. Monroe and Carrie would be proud that we still have the farm and we still grow food. If you come see us in October when we open to the public for our Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, you might can pick you a mess of purple hull peas I planted for the fall. I also might make us a few batches of Carrie Belle's Tea Cakes.

Our History

Wise Family Farm was established in 1926 when Monroe and Carrie Belle Dowdy Wise settled on to 80 acres in the Shady Grove Community located in Pontotoc County, Mississippi about 5 miles east of Ecru. This little farm sustained them and their six children. The farm provided Monroe, Carrie Belle and the children with healthy vegetables, home grown pork, beef, poultry and dairy products.

Today, Wise Family Farm is owned and operated by the third generation of Wises. This little slice of Flatwood Soil is providing fresh vegetables for the local community. The farm also provides wholesome family friendly ag education and entertainment adventures for the greater North Mississippi area.

Each year hundreds of students travel to Wise Family Farm for a hands-on educational day long field trip to learn about agriculture. They also get needed outdoor exercise in a safe learning environment away from the distractions of video games and television.

During the fall season, Wise Family Farm is also open to the public and provides a unique, fun, safe and entertaining environment to get up close and personal with nature and away from the hustle of busy lives. Families make memories that will last a lifetime and learn about how their food gets from the farm to the table.
