It has taken about a week to even begin to process that Quanto wouldn't be coming home with us. After winning one final blue ribbon for Lindsey we lost him very suddenly. Horses have a way of finding a way into your life when you need them even if you aren't looking. Quanto found his way to Poplar last year by chance, Lindsey wasn't looking but it was an amazing fit. She took a chance on this once in a life time horse and he taught her more than we could have dreamed in the last year. Quanto has a way of helping you learn to ask correctly and keeping you safe no matter what you put in front of him. He never complained or got frustrated when a mistake was made.. even though he was never the one to make the mistake. He will be missed by all, but most of all by his girl, who he loved with his whole heart. Rest easy big man, I know you'll be watching over us in the ring and wanting to remind us to keep it simple and not over complicate anything. We love you, and your Poplar family will keep watching out for Lindsey, I know that's what you would have wanted. Thank you to the amazing vets at Tryon Equine Hospital and the very understanding staff at Tryon International Equestrian Center. Til we meet again❤️

So excited about being able to get the riders back in the barn! I'm so grateful for my amazing quarantine crew who made it possible to not only keep the horses in shape but improving. Strict social distancing policies will be in place but it will be nice to see people again soon!

We had to make one exception from the barn being closed today. Tatum started on Stormy before all of this craziness started but didn't know she was about to get a pony of her very own! With no end in sight we couldn't keep it a secret anymore! Can't wait until she is back out riding and taking care of her pony!

The girls are enjoying their down time.

Corona update!

We do have one rider with a fever. She is trying to get a test. In the meantime we have bleached everything in the barn.

We are asking that all rides be scheduled through signup genius. We are trying to limit the number of riders out at once. Please only plan to be here for your time. We would love to have everyone hanging out, but we need to play it safe.

We are also asking anyone that is coming out take their temperature before coming out.

Thank you for working with us durning this time!

With the COVID-19 outbreak and current health crisis in mind, PHS will be taking some safety precautions to promote the health and safety of our customers and do our part in limiting the spread of this virus. Just as we pride ourselves in taking the bio-security measures to protect our equine partners very seriously; our students, parents and staff are no different.

We are asking students who are feeling under the weather, or with family members who are feeling under the weather, to please stay home from the barn. Lessons will continue as normal but our cancellation policy will not enforce late fees for riders who need to miss riding due to illness at home. We will happily care for or exercise your horse if you need to miss a few days at the barn.

We are also asking all of our students to regularly wash their hands and clean their bridles and saddles after each ride. Tack cleaning stations are available in the tack room.

PHS staff will be regularly disinfecting the tack room, the bathroom, door knobs, etc. We ask for your help in using Lysol wipes to clean surfaces you have come in contact with during your time at the barn.

We are asking to limit visitors to the barn. While we love meeting extended family and friends we are asking to limit the amount traffic through the barn to riders and immediate family.

BEST has been canceled for next week, we are still planning on attending Swan Lake next week.

Thank you!

In an effort to keep everyone healthy and safe we ask you stay home from the barn if you have a cold, even if you can "tough" it out.

This past weekend was Jenna’s last weekend horse showing before heading off to Israel for 6 months. She rode very well and I am always proud to be her trainer. I want to take a moment to say how proud we all of her accomplishments out of the ring! She wrapped up high school early, got into her top choice for college and is headed off to Israel. We will miss you but cannot wait to hear all your amazing stories when you get home!

2019 meant big changes for us at Poplar Hill Stables. We said goodbye to some amazing people, and welcomed some amazing new ones. We said goodbye to the best horses and ponies, and hello to news ones. We watched our kids take on new challenges, like moving from the hunter ring to the jumper ring, from leadline to mini stirrup, from ponies to horses, from having an equitation horse one day, to a jumper the next. It’s been a wild ride.
One of the most rewarding things about this business is watching our kids learn. Watching them get back on when they fall, watching them overcome fears, watching them set goals and reach those goals, watching them console each other, teach each other, congratulate each other. Watching them grow as a family. This is a tough sport, and as we walk away from an incredible 2019, we cannot wait to see what 2020 has in store for us. #poplarhillstables #equestrian #hunterjumper #barnlife #barnfamily #newyearseve #2020 #horseshowlife #horseshowing #horsebackriding

Hello IEA Riders- I would like the opportunity to judge for you during the 2018-2019 season or give a clinic from the judge’s view. As a past coach for both IEA and IHSA teams, I have a clear understanding on show rules. I have been judging Intercollegiate and Interscholastic shows for many years and understand judging past a horse that may have a less than desirable trait. I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I am happy to travel. Please have your coach contact me to judge for you. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Stella Prescott "r" Hunter, Jumpers & Hunter Seat Equitation USHJA Certified Trainer 843-247-3378 [email protected]
Happy 1st Anniversary!
