At least the horses don’t have to social distance!
Locks Edge is a beautiful, state of the art, new dressage boarding and training facility in Poolesville, Maryland.
Locks Edge is located in Poolesville, Maryland in the heart of the Agricultural Reserve. Founded in 2016, we are proud to offer a brand new, spectacular barn and arenas in a small private setting on 57 serene acres. We cater to the discriminating dressage rider who is looking for exceptional care and facilities in a smaller, private barn. Owned and operated by Dr. Lucy Tidd, a veterinarian and accomplished FEI rider. We are excited to offer a new choice in dressage boarding and training. Our resident trainer is Jordan Rich. His talents span from youngsters to the FEI horse. His fair, kind and classical approach allows both horses and riders of all levels to progress in a positive and fun way.
At least the horses don’t have to social distance!

This year also brought some tough times, especially the tragic loss of one of the horses in our barn family. We have an amazing community here at Locks Edge, and the kindness and generosity that our group brings to the table is truly awe-inspiring. I can’t thank you all enough.
Huge thank you also to Kevin Oyarzo for his excellent farrier work, Dr. James Lewis, Dr. Paul Anikis, and Cate Fiolka and Theresa Keyes of Ride Times LLC for all of their support and great service.

CBLM Finals 2019 is a wrap. More to come, but I wanted to take a moment to say how much I love this team. Successes were celebrated, support and encouragement given in difficult times, and it was all so genuine. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people, both at this show and back home at Locks Edge.

Another great day at the CBLM Finals! Congratulations to Abby Rowe and Shine—Reserve Champion Training Level Junior, and Jessie Ginsburg and Vodermus—3rd place Prix St. Georges Division A. #dressage #dressagehorse #kwpn #thoroughbredcross #locksedgerules

Congratulations to my clients who ended up with top ten placings in the USDF Year End Awards: Abby Rowe and Shine, 4th place Jr/YR Training Level. Jessie Ginsburg and Vodermus, 5th place Fourth Level Amateur Freestyle. Lucy Tidd and Ellert HB, 9th place I-2 Adult Amateur.
Qualia Dressage LLC
Finally getting around to my write up from Rosemount! Congratulations to Jessie Ginsburg and Vodermus on their 70% for second place in the USDF Freestyle class (Fourth Level), and successful I-1 debut, scoring 63.5% for the win.
I was supposed to take Waki, but he was recovering from a virus, so Lindy Taylor sent her Galantha in his place as a last minute substitute. Despite not riding Gigi much and having never even ridden through a test with her, much less shown her, we had a very successful weekend with a 66.875% for first and 63.875% for third at 3-3, qualifying for GAIGs and winning Third Level high score on Saturday. Thank you Lindy, for the opportunity to show your super fun mare!

We had a fantastic weekend at Michele Wellman’s fantastic show, Dressage, By Chance? My clients all rode so well and made me so proud.
Jessie Ginsburg won her PSG on Saturday with a 68%, and finally got to debut her Fourth Level freestyle! They finished third in a large class with a 69%.
Abby Rowe had her recognized show debut this weekend and rocked it! She and her partner Shine scored a 72, 72, 71 and 68% at Training Level tests 2 and 3. They won three out of four classes and were High Score Jr/Yr both days.
Lucy Tidd earned a 65% and 62% in the GP with Ellert HB, placing first and second and earning her USDF Gold Medal. She also won 4-3 with L’Amour Fou on Sunday with a 65%.
Big thank you to Ema Klugman for riding my youngster Friendscout today. She placed first and second in Training Level tests 2 and 3 with a 77% and 68%. She also won Training Level High Score, Open High Score, and the GOV High Score breed award.
Last but not least, my Wachenheim won the FEI freestyle class with a 68% (not too shabby, considering that I put it together in two weeks and only got to practice it twice!) and won the Intermediate TOC class today with a 66% at I-2. He also earned the Intermediate/GP High Score award.
Thank you Michele and crew for such a well run event.
We enjoyed having Richard Malmgren work his long-lining magic with the horses this morning. Always helpful to hear his input on how they are developing.

Successful show at the June Vada/Nova show at Morven Park this weekend!
Jessie Ginsburg and Vodermus were solidly in the ribbons with 2nd through 4th place placings and mid-60s scores in the PSG.
Anne Hurwitz and Fabiano won all of their FEI TOC classes with solid scores in the 60s.
Lucy Tidd and her herd did well. Highlights were Ellert HB winning his Developing GP qualifier with a 66.3%, Evita winning the PSG with a 65%, Budweiser winning a 1-3 class with a 68%, and L'Amour Fou winning 3-3 with a 67%.
My own Friendscout started off on the wrong foot by pulling down half a stall wall when he reared up and got his foot caught over the wall, along with some young horse shenanigans under saddle. 🤦♀️ He redeemed himself for a win in T-2 on Sunday with a 72.5%.
And last but not least, our Locks Edge team won the GMO Team Challenge! Thanks Vada/Nova for a great show.

Exciting day taking not one, but two horses down the centerline at a Grand Prix. Huge thank you to Anne Hurwitz for letting me ride her wonderful Fabiano in his first Grand Prix. Fabi was the big winner with a 64%—would have been a 66% if his idiot rider hadn’t gone off course. 🤦🏻♀️ My Wachenheim was second with a 61%—still ironing out some bobbles, but lots of good marks. Both boys were total stars in a challenging warmup arena. Torrential rains we’ve had recently have not been kind to footing.
We are excited to have one partial or full training stall available. Join our resident trainer, USDF Gold Medalist Siobhan Byrne of Qualia Dressage. She offers positive, effective training for horses and riders of all levels. Our stunning, small, private dressage stable on 57 acres of beautiful pastures offers unrivaled care and facilities. We have a wonderful group of dedicated, supportive and fun amateur riders. Contact us or visit our website for more information. Locksedge.com. [email protected]

We are beyond thrilled to be able to congratulate our resident trainer, Siobhan Byrne, on earning her USDF Gold Medal on her self-trained Wachenheim this weekend. Waki is incredibly talented, but not always easy. Siobhan’s beautiful, positive, correct, training approach is a pleasure to watch both with him and with her other training horses. Congratulations!
Some more photos from our clinic with Jeremy Steinberg this past weekend.

Just so the sunsets don’t get all the attention at the farm! Winter sunrises can be stunning. What an incredible way to start the weekend.
Making the most of winter training time. The incredible sunsets we get at the farm keep us inspired for those late rides! Thanks to Anne Hurwitz for grabbing these shots.
Beautiful, new studio apartment with utilities available in exchange for night check and weekend work. Must have significant horse experience, be personable and reliable. Additional paid hours also available. Contact Sarah at [email protected]
We're excited to welcome back Jeremy Steinberg for another clinic this weekend, December 1-2. We have a great lineup of horses, from youngsters to a couple on the cusp of Grand Prix. Auditors welcome--just show up and pay at the door ($30/day, $50/weekend). We will have snacks/drinks but no lunch this weekend--we weren't sure if this clinic would actually happen due to Jeremy's recent move to Aiken, so we weren't able to order lunch in advance.

Congratulations to the USDF Region 1 Team at the US Dressage Finals! Michael Bragdell and SenSation HW, Alice Tarjan and Donatella M, and Lucy Tidd and Ellert HB earned an average of 71.877% to just edge out the teams from Region 4 and Region 2. Well done! #teamwork #usdfregionscup #region1
Come and join our wonderful group of boarders. We have one stall coming available in our 16 stall barn. Impeccable care, facilities and training available for the dressage rider in Poolesville, Maryland. Owner is a veterinarian, an FEI competitor and lives on site. Our barn manager was a vet tech in a sport horse practice prior to joining us. All this, a beautiful location, and a fun group of serious amateur riders. Visit LocksEdge.com for more info or message us.
We’re pleased to welcome back Jeremy Steinberg September 29-30. Auditor registration is available online, or you may pay at the door. Jeremy is a fantastic teacher—this is a super learning opportunity. Ride schedule coming soon.
We were very excited tonight to be recognized for our conservation efforts to protect and care for our beautiful land. Not only is it good for the land but benefits our horses as well. We are appreciative for the opportunity to work with the Montgomery County Soil Conservation District to help us achieve these goals.
Ride times are now available for this weekend’s clinic. We have a great lineup of rides from Training Level through I-2.
Huge congrats to Siobhan Byrne and her long time student, Katrina Rowe. Well done!!!
Huge congratulations to my student Katrina Rowe for her success at Pony Club National Championships East. Katrina and Katie Hasse’s Tigger VIII placed first in three classes at Third Level, with a 68.7% and 65.6% in Test 3 and a 67.8% in Test 2. They were second in the freestyle with a 70.9%—despite the fact that this was their first time riding it as Katrina originally qualified at Second Level and received an exemption to compete at Third Level instead. I’m so proud of this lady for being able to ride so confidently without me there to coach her. Way to go! 🎉
Fun weekend at Loch Moy Dressage. Ellert HB scored a 69% at his second attempt in the Intermediare 1 with Lucy Tidd piloting. Huge congrats Ame Hellman for winning 4th 3 both days with a 70%, 4th Level
High score both days and AA High Score! Resident trainer, Siobhan Byrne, had a solid I2 on her Wachenheim for their 2nd time out. He will be an amazing GP horse with just a little more mileage. Anne Hurwitz and Fabiano took the blue in the FEI test of choice with the I1. Glad it stopped raining long enough for us to get to show!
