was created in 1955 when Arthur Snydal purchased Smith Beverages in Port Angeles, Washington. The franchise territory of Smith Beverages was transferred to Peninsula Bottling along with the purchase of the soft drink franchises. That franchise territory included all of Clallam and Jefferson Counties, the northern half of the Olympic Peninsula. On-site production included a complete bottling line w
ith bottlewasher, filler, and capper. Pepsi-Cola and 7-Up were the predominant brands. Direct Store Delivery was and continues to be the delivery model for all brands carried, with no third-party delivery agents. In 1972, the new warehouse at 311 South Valley was built, where the business remains today. The bottling line was discontinued in 1975 with the creation of a bottling and canning co-op called Columbia Beverage Company in Tumwater, Washington formed by nine Pepsi-Cola bottlers in Washington and Idaho, each contributing equal shares. The bottling line at Peninsula Bottling was dismantled and sold. The business continued to grow and a warehouse addition was constructed in the late 70’s. In 1983, Jeff and Debbie Hinds joined the business. Jeff, son-in-law of Arthur Snydal, became GM and President in 1988 when Arthur retired. With the addition of a complete line of alternative beverages including SoBe and Gatorade, a new warehouse was constructed in 2005, essentially doubling the usable space. In 2009, Harrison Hinds, son of Jeff and Debbie Hinds, joined the business, and he is currently the General Manager of Peninsula Bottling Company. Also in 2009, the vending portion of the business was sold to Snow Valley Distributing, owned by Harrison Hinds, which rents operating space from Peninsula Bottling. In recent years the Company has expanded its distribution of other commodities such as coffee, meat snacks, salty snacks, and pastries. Peninsula Bottling Company is the premier distributer of beverage and food consumables on the North Olympic Peninsula, and this expansion into new distribution opportunities will ensure future growth and profitability. Current owners of Peninsula Bottling are Debbie Hinds, Jeff Hinds, Arthur Snydal, Doris Snydal, and Harrison Hinds.
