RECENT DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS:
🚨Crimes Against Children Case
On April 24, 2026, the Fort Pierce Police Department partnered with the United States Department of Homeland Security in the ex*****on of a search warrant in the 1600 block of Avenue E related to crimes against children. Following the operation, detectives with the Fort Pierce Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division initiated an extensive follow-up investigation into two adult individuals located at the residence.
Through diligent investigative efforts, meticulous evidence collection, and strong interagency collaboration, detectives developed probable cause that resulted in the arrests of 72-year-old William Carlisle and 28-year-old Rebecca Walker on charges of Child Neglect Without Great Bodily Harm for allegations related to unsafe living conditions, failure to maintain proper hygiene for the children, and failure to provide adequate care. Additional charges included conspiracy related to knowingly facilitating travel intended to meet a minor, including providing access to a vehicle and assisting in preparations for the interstate trip.

🚨Burglary at Crystal Trace Apartments
On April 26, 2026, the Fort Pierce Police Department responded to delayed vehicle burglary calls for service at the Crystal Trace Apartments located in the 1900 block of South 26th Street. Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown individual had unlawfully entered a vehicle and stolen several items from inside.
Upon arriving in the area, responding officers quickly identified several suspicious individuals nearby. As officers attempted to make contact, the individuals fled on foot, prompting an immediate and coordinated response by patrol personnel. Through proactive policing efforts and effective teamwork, officers successfully located and detained a juvenile male who was found to be in possession of a debit card that had been reported stolen from the burglarized vehicle.
As a result of the swift investigative actions and persistence demonstrated by responding officers, the juvenile was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen credit card, loitering and prowling, and resisting an officer without violence.
🚨Burglaries at Harbor Isle at Hutchinson Island
On April 22, 2026, the Fort Pierce Police Department responded to the Harbour Isle community following reports of multiple overnight vehicle burglaries involving several unsecured vehicles. During the incidents, miscellaneous property was stolen, including a firearm.
As part of the investigation, detectives and responding officers reviewed residential surveillance footage, which captured an unidentified male suspect removing a bicycle from the area. The stolen bicycle was later recovered in another section of the community, providing investigators with valuable evidence and investigative leads.
Through the swift and coordinated efforts of patrol officers and investigators, officers encountered a male matching the suspect description later that same day at the intersection of North 12th Street and Avenue D. Due to the officers’ proactive policing efforts, keen attention to detail, and rapid follow-up investigation, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. 26-year-old Dustin Kouns was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary of a conveyance, obstruction, and an outstanding warrant.

The rapid response, effective investigative coordination, and dedication of officers to protecting the community were instrumental in identifying, locating, and apprehending the suspect in a timely manner.
