Serious Crust

Serious Crust A blog about food and eating based in Portland, OR. Written by Annie Fassler. The name was inspired by a a long summer I spent perfecting my pie dough recipe.

Serious Crust is a food blog by me, Annie Fassler, coming to you from Portland, Oregon. I take pie pretty seriously. There are a million and one food blogs out there. I am fully aware of this. But my goal is to create a blog about food that is just plain tasty, unique, and packed with flavor. I want to be adventurous: try recipes that scare me, experiment with flavor combinations that might sound

wacky, and show people that cooking doesn’t have to be intimidating. Food has always been very important in my life. Both of my parents are amazing cooks, always experimenting and playing in the kitchen. They taught me that, while food is of course necessary for survival, it is more importantly a way to bring people together and make them feel nourished and comforted. There is nothing I love more than spending a day in the kitchen cooking a meal (with my Ella Fitzgerald and Louie Armstrong Pandora station) to eat with people I love. On this blog I will share any thoughts on food: recipes, ingredients, tools and equipment, cookbooks, restaurants, inspirations, and struggles.
