Big news from the farm! ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

Today we're making a trip to Tulsa to bring home two very special new members of the family... a brother and sister team of Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs!

To say we're excited would be an understatement.

This is a huge step forward for our little farmstead. We've always had beloved pets, but this will be our first experience with true working dogs. There will undoubtedly be a learning curve, a few mistakes, and probably more than a little chaos along the way.

But these two will have an incredibly important job.

They'll be helping protect some of our most precious treasures, keeping watch over the animals we've worked so hard to raise and care for. As our farm continues to grow, we know we can't take the next steps without a little extra help, and these two are about to become part of the team.

Of course, while they'll have important responsibilities, they'll also be receiving plenty of love, treats, belly rubs, and all the spoiling that comes with joining the Anderson Family Farm.

We can't wait to introduce them to everyone.

Pictures coming soon! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ๐Ÿถ

Gizmo has had a truly despicable morning, and he would like the public to know he is accepting thoughts, prayers, and currently searching out legal representation.

You see, he got into a disagreement with his brother because, naturally, Gizmo believes he is the boss. He lost the argument, but the attitude is still going strong.

Weโ€™re keeping a close eye on him, have him ready to see the vet, and are also trying not to lose a finger in the process. Just another glamorous morning here on the farm, where the animals are cute, the chaos is free, and the claws are very much included.

Send Gizmo some loveโ€ฆ from a safe distance. He ain't thrilled. ๐Ÿพ

BABY GOAT UPDATE!!! ๐Ÿ

Maximus and Precious are growing like weeds and are officially ready to go out in the big goat pen. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅฐ

Because of that, we spent the last few weekends working on their new enclosure.

We got to finish it yesterday and even put up some new enrichment toys! ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Clearly, they helped a lot. Precious is the best supervisor!

Well, Little Benny was sent up to his next part of the journey this morning. I first started feeding Benny about a year or so ago when I noticed him at the dilapidated house across the street, and he'd waited religiously for me every night up until last week. ๐Ÿˆ

As I sat out their food (it's a small colony) last Sunday night, I noticed how much drainage was suddenly going on and then some. He even let me pick him up.

Took him to the vet the next day, and sure enough it was FIV. We tried some antibiotics to see if that would clear it up, but he only got worse. His body was deteriorating even with the round-the-clock care from my sweet momma. ๐Ÿ’˜

The good thing is, in the few days that we waited, Benny got to live the life he deserved. Love, food, shelter, and warmth. He was a happy fellow and just wanted to do nothing but talk to you! The moment you walked through the front door he'd say hello.

The entire drive down to the vet clinic, Benny just talked and talked. I told him that he was the sweetest soul, and that the universe had nothing but goodness awaiting him because of that. I told him how much I loved him, and that I would never forget him. ๐Ÿฅบ

I've not seen another cat who talked like he did asides from Cissa.

He was more than just another stray.

They all are, but Benny?

Goodness, he was special. โœจ

Even when we waited to be checked in, Benny just wanted to be held...so I let him out of his carrier and he curled up in my lap. I put my sweater over him so that he'd stay warm.

Although I know it needed to happen, and that it was an act of mercy, it was definitely a hard one. Even after he was given the initial shot to put him to sleep, his head resting in my hand, he purred.

His last few moments were spent in a state of calm bliss. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I'm grateful that he was put in my path, and even more grateful for my momma doing all she could these last several days to help him.

Thank you to Leflore County Vet Clinic in Poteau for the kindness and love you continue to show our family of misfits.

Fly high, Benny. You're a precious, precious soul and after work today we'll bury you out beneath my favorite tree to let your body return home. ๐Ÿ’•

Can someone please explain to me why this vulture has decided my hen house is suddenly her personal maternity ward ๐Ÿคฃ She doesnโ€™t bother the chickens at all, just casually strolls through their automatic door, picks herself a nesting box, and settles in like she pays rent. She even laid an egg the day before yesterday ๐Ÿ˜ณ Sheโ€™s clearly not scared of me, and even though we run her off every time we see her, she just keeps coming right back.
