McKuhen brings more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning golf, sports turf, landscaping, and large-scale sod production. As Bladerunner Farms continues to expand its presence in markets around the world, McKuhen will oversee day-to-day operations and work closely with CEO and Founder David Doguet

Green space is getting harder to come by in a lot of cities, so when you've got it, use it. Especially today, on National Picnic Day.

Our founder has spent his career developing turfgrass that performs under real-world conditions, because durable, well-maintained green space should be something more people get to enjoy, not just golf courses, but home lawns, parks, and everyday gathering spaces too.

This is where it starts.

Before a single variety ever reaches a golf course, a sports field, or a grower, it spends years right here. Plots like these are part of a process that can take over 15 years from start to finish, with more than 10,000 varieties evaluated along the way.

We are not just growing grass. We are watching it. Tracking it. Asking what the market actually needs, where existing varieties fall short, and whether what we have in the ground is genuinely better or just different.

Most of what gets planted in these plots never makes it to market. That is the point. The varieties that make it through have earned it.

TPC Craig Ranch on display, home of this weeks's THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and part of the Invited Clubs network.

Stadium Zoysia provided by Thomas Turfgrass was installed throughout the fairways, collars, and approach areas as part of the club’s recent renovation project.

The renovation began immediately following last year’s tournament and was brought to tournament-ready conditions in less than a year, a significant achievement for a project of this scale in North Texas.

Projects like this continue to challenge the long-standing perception that Zoysia cannot establish quickly enough for high-level tournament conditions.

This course allows us to evaluate how different varieties perform throughout real golf course environments and conditions.

Maintained under standard day-to-day conditions, it gives us the opportunity to observe performance, recovery, and playability in a setting that reflects the realities many facilities face.

Research continues both in the plots and on the course as we work to better understand long-term turf performance across a wide range of environments.

Members of the Bladerunner Farms team recently attended the 20th annual Texas Cup in San Antonio at Brackenridge Park Golf Course - Est. 1916 along with the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter GCSA May meeting at Oso Beach Golf Course

Always good spending time with others across the golf and turf industry and staying connected through events that continue to support the profession across Texas.
