We sent our honey out to be analyzed to see what flowers our bees make their honey with and it’s like they painted a picture of our farm with their honey. Our bees love the different parts of our farm as much as we do-from the basswood trees in our wooded areas to the clovers in and around our hayfields and all the way up to the sunflower and cornfields. As the littlest of the animals we care for, they really are some of the most amazing. 🐝 Jonah Ventures

What a difference a day makes. The garlic dared to pop up and was reaching for the clouds yesterday and now today it is blanketed in snow. ❄️ 💜

Root Cellar Fun - wrapped these apples from our little orchard and placed them in the root cellar on September 1st, 2025. They spent the whole winter in there and then on April 4th, I checked on them to see how they did. Some were smooshy so they went to the chickens but there was enough good ones (they were as firm and crispy as the day I wrapped them🤯) to make applesauce to go with our Easter Ham. Apparently the apples like the bottom shelf best. This year we will keep track of which trees have the best apples that store in the root cellar and we will keep them on the lower shelves.🍏 🍎

It looks like Leonard and Sydney are wondering why the Farm Store sign isn’t out yet as we usually have people here getting maple syrup and beef by now. Sydney enjoys the extra attention and Leonard looks forward to the occasional donut, cookie, cracker or any other carb someone might have in their pocket that they will share while they are at the Farm Store. I thought maybe some of you might be wondering as well when we will open this year and I am sorry to tell you that we will not be opening the farm store this year.

We are trying to make work around here a little easier. The biggest thing in that equation was to sell our feeders in January so will not have the store nor freezer beef for sale this year.

We are going to try to do some of the things we always wanted to do once our milk cows left (which has been six years already) and just have some free time to have fun off the farm occasionally. We thought we might have to sell the farm to do these things but we are going to try to just have a better balance of work and free time. Hopefully the cows, sheep, horses, rabbits, etc go along with the new plan. Leonard is easily bribed with a mini powdered donut so we have his vote. :)

We got another farm poodle this winter so Stella is having to share her work with Hazel. Good thing they’re only asked to work in the greenhouse and garden because I don’t think the beef cows would take them very seriously.

We haven’t had a bottle baby since Ollie(5 years ago) so it’s actually pretty sweet to have to feed little Sisi. For some reason Circe doesn’t want to feed her but she’s at least willing to look after her in every other way so little Sisi can stay with the flock. Ariadne has a little ram named Larry and Esme surprised us by having triplets all by herself last night. Essie is the only sheep left to lamb - she always is last for lambing for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🐏 btw last picture is Ariadne peering over into the little lamb stall checking on the newest lambs 🥰

We’ve been enjoying winter but with calving season started, it’s feeling like spring. New calves each day makes going to the barn feel like Christmas morning. 12 born in the last week. (Had to sneak a picture of Leonard in his winter coat 🥰 🐐)

We’ve been quietly enjoying the farm and not spending much time on social media but since FB/IG says it’s been 50 days since our last post, it seems like a good time to show what we’ve been up to the last two months. The sheep were shorn making them look like goats again 😂, the bed pack barn was cleaned and the manure spread on the hay fields to feed next year’s crop, the garden got cleaned and mulched, honey was harvested and hives readied for winter, we explored the new pond the beavers made for us, harvested all the corn that the sheep, rabbits and chickens are now enjoying, moved the sheep inside the barn for winter, sorted the herd so the young ones are in the heifer barn and the cows and bulls have the bed pack barn, bottled honey, made whipped honey (which is like homemade fluff and perfect for spreading on anything like you would smooth frosting 😋), honey lollipops and candles, got the sleigh out for winter fun, with the weather getting colder Sparkplug and Scooter have become part time house cats while Sydney stays in the heated milkhouse, and some pictures of Maizy, Bud, Joe and Jerry with the newest nest of bunnies. Thankful for another autumn on the farm and the beautiful snow that this winter has already brought. 🍁 ❄️ 😊
