Have you ever got excited about a stallion you might consider incorporating into your breeding program? Just to become disappointed almost immediately when viewing the dam line? I have seen it far too often during my many years as a breeder.

Just a friendly reminder to anyone who intends/thinks about standing a stallion or using an outside stallion ~ the dam line DOES matter! Genes don't lie and you can only get what is there to give...........

Took me 3+ years to find a mare in hopes of producing a successor to Esquire. Turning over every leaf and looking for needles in many hay stacks. Through our due diligence and steady research we obtained a great mare with great breeding. A c**t was produced.

He has a stellar sire line AND dam line. He also has a terrific mind with a willing temperament and correct structure. He is currently earning his right to be the next in line and we could not be happier with this young c**t!

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.
According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.
While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.
In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.

This is 100% TRUTH! And the same in reverse.....a great rider can make a poor horse look good. It is important to know the difference.

If you do not know/cannot see the difference - then now is a good time to start learning! You could do yourself and your horse a big favor in doing so ;)

Who else already knew about this? Sounds like a wonderful idea and a great money 💰 saver too!!!

Horse people let me help you save some money with fly spray.
It’s hot as heck right so I’m spraying my horses off A.M. & P.M. I use this $12 car wash sprayer from Harbor Freight and $7 Irish soap the original.
Spray your horses down then turn the sprayer to mix and spray the soap on the horses. Let it soak. Don’t immediately spray it off. I usually rinse and soak one horse leave them standing and spray another one then come back and spray it off them. I use the shower setting to spray it off because I want to completely wash the soap off but the smell to still be on them. I haven’t sprayed my horses with fly spray in 2 months and haven’t had a problem with flies or big horses flys.
I also hang the bars Irish soap all around the barn and even get a cheese grater and grate it up sprinkle the soap with the shavings. Barn smells good and no flies.

Do you know where your horse falls in line with the below:

Underweight
Horses are generally considered to be underweight with a BCS < 3. Being underweight may affect overall health and athletic performance. Horses that are extremely underweight with a BCS of 1 or 2 may have suppressed immunity and are at higher risk for contracting disease.

Overweight
A horse with a BCS of 7 is considered overweight, and BCS > 8 is obese. Being overweight may contribute to metabolic issues such as insulin resistance and laminitis. Obesity may be associated with reproductive dysfunction in mares.

GA E-Finnity 3 year old sired by HG Esquire and out of one of our Swedish Warmblood L.A. Baltic Sundance daughters, aka ‘Finn’, on his 3rd day at the trainers. Thankful to continue to receive updates on all of th’E’ kiddos after they leave to go to their new owners.

Finn has really filled out nicely. Not to mention he looks to have grown yet even taller since I seen him last September at SHN’s. His mom says he’s matured nicely mentally and is such a sweetheart too!

Already a SHN Reserve Champion and SHN Top Ten winner with his sights on SHN wins under saddle as well. This one is going to be fun to watch! Thanks Anne Welch Neville for all your updates.

NEW USEF RULE(S):

Equine Safety & Wellbeing

• GR1101.1 (036-22) - Microchipping
• Beginning December 1, 2025, all horses competing in USEF licensed or endorsed competitions must be microchipped with a 15-digit ISO compliant 11784/11785 chip that is implanted in the nuchal ligament of the horse’s neck. The microchipping of horses is fundamental to equine well-being, especially during times of disease outbreaks, natural disasters, in cases of theft, and to protect against fraud.

EQ104.1, HU100.1 & JP102.2 (249-22) – Excessive Lunging

• Excessive lunging; lunging a visibly exhausted or obviously lame horse; and excessive, disruptive, or otherwise inappropriate use of a lunge whip has now been added to the list of prohibited acts under the Horse Welfare rules for hunters, jumpers, and hunter/jumping seat equitation.

Wondering……with so much of our equine breeding information and methods being parallel to how human reproduction plays out if the below 👇 is also relative.

Any thoughts?? Has this been looked at also on the equine reproduction side of things??? Or has this been already long known??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fastest s***m is not necessarily the one that fertilizes the egg. The egg has selective receptors and allows entry to the most suitable s***m, not the one that arrives first.
A study conducted by researchers from Stockholm University in Sweden and the University of Manchester Trust Foundation in the United Kingdom, published in the scientific journal The Royal Society, disproves the theory that the fastest s***m can fertilize an egg.
The one that accomplishes the feat is not necessarily the first to reach the egg, but rather the one selected by the female reproductive cell through chemotaxis.
05/24/2023
Looking like the current wireless cameras I have for the barn to do foal watch only offer 'weatherproof' camera's and not 'waterproof'. That said I am assuming as such whatever waterproof camera I get will require an entirely different app. So my question is there a universal app for wireless security cameras?
I really would love to only have a need to look at ONE app versus two or more when keeping an eye on the mare(s). The waterproof camera is needed for when the mare(s) are turned out I can still keep my eye on them.
Not interested in keeping them in a stall for extended long periods of time - it is not in their best interest to do so. Yet on the other hand I am not interested in letting them foal out in their turn-out versus a well bedded stall. Thus the reason I am on the hunt.
Looks as if they have plastic covered versus metal covered versions. What do you guys use? And not looking to break the bank either. There are many out there costing several 100's of dollars that are no better than my $30 dollar cameras and do just fine. Except they are not waterproof :(
TIA ~ Photo for attention only.
What a pretty mare who has come to visit Esquire. Her breeding is equally as lovely. Half Arabian mare who is sired by a Holsteiner stallion. Fingers and toes crossed 🤞 this maiden settles easily in foal for her owner. Being onsite here close to both Esquire and Vikhtory should encourage the mare to cooperate.
I am watching Kayla Lamison with Gracie and Brielle Forgues with Zeke and I wish I was 10 years younger. I remember the joy of starting Player (GA E-khwaytor) he was so easy. He just said whatever you want. I see the same thing in Zeke and Gracie. Player and I have worked together for 10 years. We are really working well together. I wish we could have shown more this year, but...
I am looking forward next year. Player continues to impress me with his ability to learn and grow as I continue to improve my skills. He truly was one of the best decisions I ever made.❤️❤️🐎
I am so happy to have an E baby and to watch her grow. This is my first experience with breeding and raising a baby. We have had some difficulties but are prevailing and it is so exciting to have a healthy baby who is so much fun and full of sass (but not in a bad way). She is super sweet and smart. This is a real joy, so glad that I chose Denise Browne Gainey's HG Esquire!
I love baby horses! Their curiosity, the cute faces, the clean slate you get to start with as you start their life's journey with you.
I have started so many babies in my many years training horses and always fun and I have been privileged and blessed in the past few years to start a few HG Esquire kids and I can't say enough positive about them as individuals and the good traits their daddy has passed on to them!
Starting a baby and making it into the partner you want is an experience that every horseman should experience at least once in their life. Taking this raw material and being successful in what ever discipline that is chosen is a feeling that is hard to explain!
Taking the steps, one by one, being patient, understanding the foibles of the immature minds, celebrating the successes is something that is part of making you and your horse a team.
I have two Esquire kids at the moment , one now 6 who was acquired as a yearling and another who was purchased in utero and is now two. Both amateur owners did not have experience in starting babies so they started the journey together. I also have tow other E boys, one who was a unstarted three year old and another who was well started when he arrived as a 6year old. My experience working with these guys made me understand the good brain Esquire puts on his get and the two younger ones have proven that again. Both have gone thru training process following the "book". learning and understanding what is asked and showing the talent we want for what we do!
I realize not everyone has the wherewithal to start a baby from scratch but if you do I really recommend it and of course starting from E is a great place!
Congratulations on a job well done breeding Arabian/SWB sport horses and best wishes for the New Year!
A Christmas story with a happy 'E'nding: Once upon a time, a girl received the best Christmas present ever: an Arabian filly! The girl and the filly grew up together and had many adventures, and the filly taught the girl how to be a better horsewoman. In the blink of an eye, the filly was 27 years old, and the girl almost 40! The girl was sad that she had never bred her ❤️ horse, but then she met Denise at GCA & Sport Horses. Denise and her wonderful vet Carmen Franck Vaughan, DVM bred her beautiful mare Kool to the very handsome Esquire, and this year the girl received another very special Christmas present: GA E-Khwinox!
Ever had a Sore, Cranky or Lame horse? Biting or pinning ears while being saddled? Reluctant to being caught? Or hard to bridle?
We all have if you've been into horses for a long time.
What creates this?
Did you know your horse should be rideable into their 30's? Perform into their 20's!
This is information like you have never seen before! Please watch and share about what is really going on inside your horse. AND what you can do about it. Every horse I've seen has 1st rib out by 7 months of age. And this starts the high/low syndrome in front hooves. And most bodywork professionals do not know how to release it! This causes our training and behavioral issues as well as saddle fit issues.
