Short story- We have an alive big bull calf on the ground! Happy birthday big guy! 🎉6/26/26!
I went out around 8 to check on her, found water bag in field and no signs of her actively pushing. So patiently waited and let her return to the field in hopes she would get things done on her own.
By 11:30, I was concerned and sounding the alarm for help between Lansen and trying to wrangle her to check.
I cannot ever say enough good things about Katelyn Moore and always being there.
I’m not jumping for joy for having to have a vet call, but she saved the day! 🙌🏼
Justin, & Aunt Marcy, & Mema Kathy ended up arriving to help with Lansen.
Thankful for how large our village is. 🤍

Well, the grass has grown approximately 5/8 inch waiting on Missy to calve. 😂😂
However, labor looks much more promising within the next couple days- milk bag full teats large & outward.
Noticeable changes in back end and mucous. 👏🏼
Maybe I’m crazy but noticing the minor details when moods, body condition, eating & social habits shift is important husbandry.
The anticipation. The excitement. The bond you develop. New life entering the world and witnessing it.

Perhaps, if you ever stop feeling the magic on whatever scale you farm you know it’s time to hang up your hat— but until then I’ll be sipping my coffee and watching. ☕️ 🤍

Just an update on Titan-
He made it safely to Philadelphia on the 7th.
I’ve gotten lots of updates and it is as though him and Daphne have always been together are bonding well. 🥹
We take great pride these two get to live out there forever days at Pennsbury Manor in absolute great hands.
We are grateful for the relationship we have built and to our future farm family in the next season of calves. ✨🤍

Waiting on a calf is a lot like watching grass grow.. 🍃 😂

Come on Missy, quit holding that baby hostage.
In drama like fashion, we must make our humans believe we were about to deliver in the middle of the fresh round bale everyone else is trying to eat. 🙄

Ultimately praying for a safe and easy delivery like last year but doubling down in hopes we get another heifer. ✨👏🏼🎉

Today we said goodbye to our little Titan! He is headed to his forever home in Philly to live out his forever days with our first heifer Daphne.
They are exhibited at the Pennsbury Manor Museum.
Grateful to see these two get be a companion to each other! 🤍🫶🏼
