Growing up, some of the best Father’s Days were spent at the lake, cooking out: my brother grilling the most flavorful smash burgers…while he hovered over the smoke, my mother & I preparing a spread of toppings — the thoughtful accessories that add the charm.

We have curated a special F.M. 900 Farm Box for Friday’s delivery, filled with the freshest organic produce needed for a very special cookout spread.

For the burgers? Pickling cucumbers, dill, ripe red slicing tomatoes, East Texas onions. For the sides? a bundle of okra & crisp green beans…. & a pint of blueberries for some old fashion blueberry cobbler.

We spent the day perfecting our favorite homemade dill pickles & okra fries — an F.M. 900 take on southern fried okra. We’ve tucked both recipes into this Friday’s F.M. 900 Farm Box.

We started the F.M. 900 Farm Box as a convenient way to offer what’s truly seasonal — what grows in the soil that surrounds us, in the current season and month we’re in? That’s how humans have historically eaten & for a reason. Our bodies are nourished with what nature provides. As we enter into the hot summer months, hydrating water-filled foods such as cucumbers, squash, berries, melons, & eggplant thrive.

Eating seasonal also means produce harvested at peak ripeness & delivered to you a day after it’s harvested. Once produce is picked, it progressively looses vitamins & antioxidants. Minimizing harvest to consumption maximizes nutritional density (& flavor!!).

That’s the why. It’s a nod to how humans have historically eaten for thousands of years.

In this week’s F.M. 900 Farm Box, enjoy shish*to peppers, 2 Ibs of cucumber, eggplant, summer squash, sweet cherry tomatoes, round onions, and rainbow chard. All grown within a 30 mile radius of us. Link in bio to reserve your box (cut off is tomorrow, Wednesday, at 3 PM).
