Lady, our LGD had 9 puppies yesterday. She is 1/2 Akbash, 1/2 Karakachan. Major, the sire, is a Central Asian Shepherd. They are doing well and I will turn them out to pasture with the sheep in March where mom can train them all summer.

I moved all the bred ewes to the lambing pasture today. The girls were bred to start May 10th, but after having 12 ewes lamb today we decided to make the move. Even though we practice rotational grazing, during lambing I opt to utilize the “set, stock, lambing” practice. This means I will leave them in a big pasture for 2-3 weeks and let them do their thing. Moving while lambing has caused me too much “mis-mothering” in the past.
