Every summer the Saxony ducks become super broody. It’s comical to watch them run around hunched down and grumpy, finding places to make nests.

We don’t have a drake and they basically make a new spot daily but it’s a little funny to watch.

Back at the beginning of March I started volunteering with Pawsitive Friendships as a junior handler with Bonnie the pygmy goat, Quincy the mini rex rabbit, and Taffy and Peanutbutter who are serama chickens.

I absolutely love volunteering with this incredible organization. It's so special to get to bring some non-canine buddies to bring joy and help with animal assisted activities!

Our club will be doing a clinic with them this summer to introduce Pawsitive Friendships to more 4H and FFA kids and I am so excited!

Violet is a senior Blue Holicer doe. Like the Czech Frosty (another favorite breed) they are an upright cylindrical pose rabbit when they’re not lounging.

Happy National Pygmy Goat Day!

Not all little goats are Pygmy Goats...just the best ones are. Pygmy Goats are a specific breed derived from the Cameroon’s or West African Dwarf Goat. The first Pygmy Goats were brought to the United States in 1959 for use in research and petting zoos.

According to the NPGA Breed Standard, the Pygmy Goat is hardy, alert and animated, good-natured and gregarious, a docile, responsive pet, a cooperative provider of milk, and an ecologically effective browser.

Bonnie, Blackbeard and Ziggy Stardust are wishing you a happy day filled with goat snuggles, pronks and all the hay you can eat!

One thing I really like to do every year at Maricopa County Fair is participate in general projects. I did several this year but this was a favorite.

I’m really lucky to have such a great mentor for leather work. Kelci Martinez from Kelci’s Leather Creations helped me learn to buckstitch this year.

I made the cyanotypes for the inlay using cotton and flowers and then worked to buckstitch and assemble it.

My mom forgot to list it, but that’s ok, it looks pretty awesome on Nox.

Week 2 of the Maricopa County Fair was pretty awesome too! I had a great week.

I really enjoyed my first time participating in the small stock auction and am so grateful to Pigeons buyers.

Our team worked hard and earned third place in dairy judging, and I took fourth place junior individual for skill a thon.

I also especially enjoyed hanging out in the small stock barn and helping teach the public about poultry and eggs. It's always my favorite part of this.

I will share more soon but for now please know I am so grateful and happy. This was such a wonderful way to close my show season and I am really looking forward to continuing to learn.
